Motorcycle Riders Protective Equipment 20132014-01-28 11:55The 2013 MotoGP World Championship assigned victory to bike manufacturers and riders in three classes. Nobody talks about protective devices manufacturers. Dromo, in this report, has compiled the first “Unofficial” World Championship Standing for protective devices’ manufacturers, assigning the sum of points gathered from the respective riders in their respective classes. The report features an overall standing, a single class standing, and a Nation Cup, plus an analysis of brands‘ market penetra- tion, distribution of investments, center of costs, trying to find answers like: - What brand won 2013 MotoGP, Moto2 e Moto3? - What brand better protected his riders? - Where the riders got injuried? ...and many more interesting facts. It is with the Dromo’s method, that Jarno Zaffelli examined public and official documents gathered from Dorna Sport S.L. and FIM to examine, assess and produce the 2nd version of this report, in an attempt to work on safety not only passively (designing the safest while most challenging sport venues) but also actively, giving insights to protective gears manufacturers, to help them to focus their investments and research&development teams in the best direction, raising the level of what safety means. 865 crashes in 2013 FIM MotoGP World Championship were sustained by 124 riders (including wild cards and 1 which was not officially recorded) have been analyzed. All crashes recorded in Official Sessions and Races are present, bearing in mind that all analysis are made on events’ reports, not inclu- ding the injuries found in the days after the race. http://www.studiodromo.it/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Dromo_MRPE_2013_Public.pdf Source: Dromo Click here to visit our forums to discuss this story |
