Qualifying Format Changes for 2013 GEICO EnduroCross Series

Since the first ever EnduroCross event in 2004, the race format has included a Hot Lap that puts the riders on the course one at a time for a single lap against the clock to determine the heat race gate picks. The exciting action has always taken place immediately following the afternoon practice session, prior to most spectators arriving for the show. In an effort to showcase this great action and put the top riders on the track one more time during the night show, a second hot lap for just the thirteen main event qualifiers will take place prior to the main event. The results will determine the main event gate picks.

“The Hot Laps have always been an exciting battle to see who can put in the best single lap against the clock but unfortunately only the racers and a few spectators have been there to see it” stated Mike Karsting, VP of Events for Source Interlink. “So we are really excited about adding the second hot laps to the format as a full arena will only add to the excitement and pressure for the riders to earn a good gate pick for the main”.
