SX Öhlins Privateer Rider Gallo Inches to Within an Inch of the Big Race2011-03-22 18:44Hendersonville, North Carolina: Tony Gallo rode his Honda CRF450R to a tenth-place finish in his qualifying heat during the night show at the Jacksonville, Florida AMA Supercross, missing making the main by one position. In his first full season of participation in the national AMA Supercross series, this is the closest Gallo has come to the big-show final of an SX event. Gallo qualified for the night show in the Supercross class, at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, setting the third-fastest time in session-one of Group B qualifying, and the second-fastest time in the second qualifying session of Group B. With a field of two-dozen riders in Group B, Gallo shined in each session with his two top-three finishes, showing consistency throughout the day and soundly qualifying for the night show of 40 riders who line up, 20 each, for the Heat Races 1 and 2. In Gallo’s race, Heat 2, he finished tenth, coming as close to the main event as possible, with only one rider between him and the final. In the LCQ, Gallo finished sixth, placing outside the two-rider cutoff. Öhlins USA Off Road Manager, Stacey Berger, said, “We’re really proud of Tony’s advancement this season. He’s a great rider, and determined, so it’s been great for us to share in his success and see him challenge himself to do better. Maybe his girlfriend Melissa needs to keep coming to the races. She’s been at the last two and he’s done his best in each of those.” Öhlins USA distributes and services the world’s leading performance suspension for automobiles, motorcycles, ATVs, and snowmobiles.
