The 64th Motocross of Nations took place at the Thunder Valley circuit of Lakewood in Colorado and saw Team USA score their 21st victory in the history of the prestigious annual event.

Confirmation of the home riders’ success was only possible in the third and final moto when a 1-2 finish knocked Germany from the top of the standings. The last outing witnessed new AMA Supercross and Motocross Champion Ryan Dungey take his second win of the day ahead of team-mate Andrew Short and the formidable trio – complimented by Trey Canard – could rise to the top of the podium. The Pirelli Scorpion made it onto the podium with Belgian and 2010 MX1 World Championship runner-up Clement Desalle, who steered his works Suzuki booted with MidSoft 32 front and rear to overall victory in the Open category. With the same rubber World Champion Antonio Cairoli earned second place in MX1 to Dungey with the KTM 350SX-F. The Sicilian fought closely in the first race with the American until a heavy landing from a quad jump tweaked his ankle and he also struggled with asthma. In the second race Cairoli recovered from a bad start to cross the finish line with 4th.
