Max Biaggi and Team Aprilia Alitalia Earn Dual Victories at the WSBK

2010-05-11 09:40
Aprilia USA, the North American importer and
distributor of award-winning Aprilia sport bikes, proudly announces and
congratulates Team Aprilia Alitalia's back-to-back victories at the 2010
World Superbike Championship in Monza, Italy, on May 8-9. Aprilia's marquee
rider, Max Biaggi, took home a double win in Monza for the second time this
season, the first being in the Portimao circuit. Thanks to the triumph this
weekend, Biaggi secured his second-place position in the rider standings at
178, trailing Leon Haslam of Team Suzuki Alstare by three points. Currently,
Team Aprilia Alitalia holds the first place standing in the world
manufacturer rankings, three points ahead of Suzuki and 35 ahead of Ducati.

"This was a great, all-Italian weekend - from the track, to the rider, to
the bike, to the tires, to the petrol and the three-colored plumage of the
sponsor: it is Italy flying" said Roberto Colaninno, president and CEO of
the Piaggio Group. "Max Biaggi's double victory at Monza is proof of
Aprilia's technological superiority and of its key product, the RSV4, ridden
by an extraordinary champion."

"Race 2 was a fantastic conclusion to an exceptional weekend," commented Max
Biaggi. "I couldn't dream of a more perfect race if I had to. I must thank
the Aprilia team for not only coming together seamlessly, but for
maintaining a consistent cohesion throughout the race."

Aprilia enthusiasts can catch the Aprilia Alitalia Racing Team during the
sole U.S. stop of the 2010 World Superbike series at Utah's Miller
Motorsports Park on May 31. Representing Italy's red, white and green
colors on the RSV4 will be Apirlia's own legend Max Biaggi and newcomer Leon
Camier.
