Sweeping the Sunshine State2010-03-30 07:43It was a critical stop on the Monster Energy AMA Supercross circuit for both Ryan Villopoto and Christophe Pourcel and neither disappointed. Both Thor MX riders captured victories in their respective classes to keep their championship hopes thriving. Despite a practice session crash that temporarily sidelined Villopoto with an apparent toe injury, he was able to push forward and win in impressive fashion. Villopoto not only won his heat race but also took the main event win for a perfect 2-for-2 sweep of the Florida Supercross races. The win closes the gap in the standings to just 21 points, which means the title is still very much up for grabs. Pourcel also had some theatrics to overcome throughout the night. During the Lites Class main event, with the laps winding down and in the lead, Pourcel got tangled up with a lapped rider and went down. Thankfully, his lead was large enough that he was able to gather himself and get back on the bike to capture the victory. The win increases his lead in the East Coast Lites class to eight points with only two rounds remaining before the East region title is determined. Thor TV was also on hand in Jacksonville. Host Rob Buydos caught up with guests like Larry Ward, Erin Bates, Roger DeCoster and others. We’ll have updates on Facebook, YouTube and thormx.com throughout the week.
