KTM's Steffi Laier third in first moto of Women's World Championships in France

Steffi Laier of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team came from behind to take third place in the first moto on the Ernee track in France Saturday to keep her chances alive for a podium on Sunday in the Women's World Championship.

The second of two motos in round four of the women's competition will be run on Sunday morning on the Ernee circuit in northwest France.

Fierce competition
Competition among the top riders in the women's championship is fierce this season and Laier got sandwiched in between her two greatest rivals at the beginning of the race. "My start to bad," she said. "I got stuck between the two of them and in the beginning I was a bit behind. Then I had to find my way around two other riders that crashed in front of me. Even so I managed to get up with the front runners after two rounds but those incidents in the beginning cost me a lot of power. I do know that I am one of the fastest out there and with one more lap I could have challenged the leaders today. I like this track and when I get a good start tomorrow I can win," Steffi said.

The second and deciding moto of the women's GP is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. on Sunday morning.
