KTM's Musquin wins qualifying ahead of French MX2 GP

Marvin Musquin, the latest recruit to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team set a blistering pace to take victory in the qualifying for the MX2 Grand Prix of France on the Ernee racing circuit in northwest France in only his second ride for the team.

Musquin, racing in front of his home crowd is out to repeat his debut double moto victory in his first ride with the KTM factory team in the last round in Britain's Mallory Park.

Confident booster for Musquin
"This is very good for my confidence," the young French rider said. "It's my second consecutive qualifying win and it's nice to do it before a lot of my supporters. It shows me they like me as a rider and tomorrow for sure I will try to win again. I hope the track stays the same as it was today. I am happy with my bike and tomorrow I want a good start, which won't be easy because for sure Rui (Goncalves) will also be very fast tomorrow," Musquin commented.

Musquin may not get his wish for the track to stay in the same condition as it was on Saturday. Steady rain had set in on Saturday night and more is forecast for Sunday's race.

Tough Saturday for Rui Goncalves
Factory teammate Rui Goncalves of Portugal, winner of two GP this season had a difficult day on the French track. "It was another tough Saturday for me," he said. "I had a good start but I was taken out by another rider." In the ensuing crash Rui dislocated his shoulder but managed to pop it back in place again, albeit with the accompanying pain for the rest of the race. "I didn't give up," he said. "I was right at the back and I managed to work my way up through the pack but of course it was very painful. I like the track here, I hope to have a good start and pick up as many points as it can."

Also among the top riders was French rider Anthony Boissiere of the HDI KTM France team who finished in third place in qualifying, signalling that he is also a candidate for a good result in tomorrow's race.
