Stewart Sets Fastest Lap Time at AMA Toyota Motocross Championship2007-05-19 16:24Honda Hangtown Classic finals set for Sunday, May 20 Kawasaki's James Stewart and Suzuki's Ricky Carmichael renewed their rivalry in today's practice session in preparation for tomorrow's Honda Hangtown Classic, presented by MDK Motorsports, opening round of the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship, presented by FMF Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., posted a fast lap time of 2:15.114 in the first of two practice sessions, which was over a second quicker than Carmichael's best time. But in the second practice, Carmichael rebounded with a fast lap time that was four one thousandths of a second quicker than Stewart, setting the stage for an exciting day of racing at the famous Prairie City SVRA facility. In AMA Motocross Lites, Yamaha's Jason Lawrence, of Carlsbad, Calif., set the tone with a 2:18.845. Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto, of Poulsbo, Wash., was second with best time of 2:19.599 Under the new AMA qualifying procedures, the top 40 riders in each division will qualify into tomorrow's two-moto main event. Opening ceremonies start at 12:00 p.m. for tomorrow's Honda Hangtown Classic, presented by MDK Motorsports, opening round of the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship, presented by FMF.
