Kawasaki's James Stewart takes Anaheim 1

By 11:00 fans were already lining up to get into Anaheim's Angel Stadium for the first Stateside stop in the 2007 Amp'd Mobile World Supercross series.

The opening show for Anaheim 1 is just that, a show complete with lasers, flames, and fireworks. Retiring champion Ricky Carmichael rode a lap of the Angel Stadium to a standing ovation.

The Lites main event started with #377 Pourcel taking the lead with #51 Villopoto and #100 Hansen right behind him. In the third lap Ryan Villopoto took over the lead from now second place Pourcel with Hansen holding onto his spot in third. Pourcel was able to keep his second place spot and # 338 Jason Lawrence passed Hansen securing a third place finish.

The Main race of Anaheim SX1 saw all the key players in attendance. Chad Reed, recovering from a shoulder injury was able to race and took the lead on the first lap in front of Stewart and Ricky Carmichael. James Stewart #7 gained the number one spot on the second lap followed by Reed # 22 and Carmichael #4.

On the third lap Ricky passed Chad to hold second until the fifth lap when Ricky took the lead from James. James passed Ricky in the Seventh lap and we watched Ricky as he chased James until the thirteenth lap when Carmichael went wide into the bails and crashed. James Stewart was able to lengthen his gap between Carmichael and Chad Reed.

Lapping riders , Stewart took first place with Carmichael in second and Reed in third.
