BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Completes Final Pre-Season Test at Jerez2025-02-23 11:41Following a single-day test in Portimão last week, riders Izan Guevara and Tony Arbolino spent these crucial three days in Jerez adapting to an entirely new bike—the Boscoscuro chassis—as well as integrating with their brand-new team under the guidance of Team Manager Alex De Angelis. With just a few days to go before the first race, the focus throughout the test was on optimizing the bike setup for the opening races rather than chasing fast lap times. Guevara showcased steady progress over the three days, ultimately setting an impressive lap time of 1'40"472, placing him 12th overall in the combined standings. Meanwhile, Arbolino faced greater challenges, particularly in finding confidence with the front of his bike, finishing 24th overall with a best time of 1'40"998. With testing now behind them, the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 team will enjoy a brief period of rest before traveling early next week to Thailand for the highly anticipated ThaiGP, the opening round of the 2025 Moto2 World Championship. ALEX DE ANGELIS Team Manager, BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 "We knew that, being at the beginning of this new project, it wouldn‘t be easy, considering that everything is new: the team, the bikes, the riders. So, these three days in Jerez were a test in the truest sense of the word, to understand the bike and how it reacts to changes. We focused solely on this, without chasing a time attack, which clearly shows that our potential is much higher. Izan started off much better compared to the test day in Portimão and was very fast on the final day, in line with the top riders on the Boscoscuro. Tony, on the other hand, struggled with significant front-end chattering, which was well reflected in the data, and he focused primarily on solving this issue. I was impressed by how well he feels what‘s happening on the bike and how clearly he can explain it." IZAN GUEVARA BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Rider "I am very happy with these three days of testing. They have been very intense but also extremely productive. We have worked in a clear direction with the first race in Thailand and the start of the season in mind. The collaboration with the team is going very well; we are getting to know each other more and more, and there is a great atmosphere. We finished on a positive note, with our best time not far from the top Boscoscuro and with an increasingly better feeling on the bike. I also did a race simulation that makes me optimistic. Now, a couple of days of rest at home, and then we finally get started!" TONY ARBOLINO BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Rider "It has been three very difficult days in which I wasn‘t able to get the best out of the bike. We had a lot of chattering issues that prevented us from fully testing everything we wanted, also to avoid going down the wrong path. We focused on the harder tires, which we will use in the first races, without doing a real time attack. I‘m curious to see what will happen in Thailand, but I‘m sure it will be a completely different story there. In the meantime, I want to thank the team for the incredible work they have done over these past days." Source: Yamaha Click here to visit our forums to discuss this story |
