Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP Team Gears up for ThaiGP with Constant Buriram Preseason Test Performance

With the clock ticking down to the season-opening Thai Grand Prix on the weekend of March 2nd, Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP riders‘ Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira made the most of their penultimate day of testing at the Chang International Circuit.

It was a hard-working day in the torrid heat of Buriram, as both Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira focused on refining their race setups, taking valuable steps forward in optimizing the Yamaha YZR-M1 ahead of the first race weekend of the year.

After a productive Sepang test where the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP team identified key development directions, today‘s focus was on adapting the bike to Buriram‘s different layout and grip conditions. The morning session was mostly dedicated to understanding the YZR-M1‘s behavior on this different track, with the afternoon used for extracting maximum performance. Miller quickly found his rhythm, consistently lapping in the 1‘30” range and showing strong pace over longer runs.

His solid performance placed him ninth in the afternoon session and secured his status as the fastest Yamaha rider of the day, despite dropping one position in the combined times. Meanwhile, Oliveira faced early struggles but made steady progress, finding key improvements that allowed him to close the gap. He wrapped up the day in 17th place overall.

Tomorrow marks the final preseason testing session before the real action begins in two weeks and the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP Team is determined to fine-tune every detail in preparation for what promises to be an exciting opening round of the 2025 MotoGP season.

"The track was a bit dirty in the morning, but with all the bikes it cleaned up pretty quickly. I feel good, the bike is working well, we made some steps during the day to improve some of the weak areas I found on the track. It was more of a set-up day rather than testing anything specific like we did in Sepang. I am now concentrating on setting up the bike for the race and I can say that I feel good on the M1. The rear grip isn't as much of an issue here as we expected. In general the bike feels very good to ride, I am having fun."

"I had an eventful afternoon with some problems, not everything went smoothly with the runs, but in the end we were able to make up some time. I tried to be a little more in the right place for tomorrow's start. As the track improved the conditions were better for our bike, but we still have a lot of work to do. Still, I think we are relatively competitive looking at the start of the race, while we have to work on finding a good rhythm with used tires."
