PETRONAS Sprinta Racing looking to make comeback at Jerez

After a challenging PortugueseGP, the PETRONAS Sprinta Racing squad will be hoping for a return to true form this weekend at the Gran Premio de España, with both Darryn Binder and John McPhee showing previous good fortune at the Jerez circuit.
Binder enjoyed a productive fight amongst the top riders at last year’s AndaluciaGP, narrowly missing out on a podium place after making his way through from 25th on the grid. The South African, who has already been on the podium twice this season, will be hoping that his strong pace around the Spanish circuit will see him add another top-three finish to his 2021 stats and claim his first at Jerez. Darryn goes into the fourth round of the year third in the championship standings, with 36 points.
Team-mate McPhee will be hoping a return to the circuit that he finished on the podium last year at the AndaluciaGP will signal a reversal of fortunes and end his run of bad luck. The Scot’s good form at the Jerez circuit also includes a front row start at the 2020 SpanishGP and the fastest lap the year before. The primary target that John will want to hit this weekend will be to propel himself upwards in the championship standings with a large amount of points, and kickstart his 2021 campaign.
The Gran Premio de España will get underway with Moto3’s FP1 session at 9am local time (3pm MYT) Friday, with Sunday’s 22-lap race at the usual time of 11am local time (5pm MYT).

After a tough race last time in Portugal, I’m really looking forward to getting to Jerez. I’ve had some good races there in the past and it’s a circuit that I always really enjoy riding. I’m hoping that I can get back to how I was in the first couple of races this year. I’m aiming to just get my head down, work hard, stay out of trouble and be able to fight for those top positions in the race. Hopefully we can come away from the SpanishGP with another podium.
