The YART Yamaha EWC Team return to action this weekend, with riders Broc Parkes, Marvin Firtz and Niccolò Canepa looking to carry on their impressive 2019 form at the Oschersleben 8 hours in Germany for round four of the FIM Endurance World Championship.
Following an accomplished victory in challenging conditions at the previous round’s 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring in May, the team will be looking to make up for last year’s Germany round where they were forced to retire from a strong position. The YART team showed good pace at the circuit last year and are fired up to add to their points score in 2019.
YART have proved themselves in all weather conditions this year and mastered the rain at Slovakia to take the win. With dry and sunny weather forecast for this weekend’s race the team have high expectations for the penultimate round of 2019.
The team sit fourth in the series standings with 87 points, and Yamaha lead the Manufacturer standings with 153 points.
The Yamaha extended supported teams also carry good form into this weekend, with WEPOL Racing and VRD Igol Pierret Experiences Yamaha taking top five finishes in Slovakia, and 3ART – Moto Team 95 and Moto Ain, who finished sixth in last year’s Oschersleben 8 hours, also securing points finishes.
Opened in 1997, the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben is located in the town of Oschersleben in the Börde district, 171km from the German capital Berlin. Having previously played host to events such as the FIA ETCC and WTCC championships, the track held its first EWC event in 1999 as the 24 hours of Oschersleben before becoming an 8 hour event in 2008. The Oschersleben track is 3.6km long and features 14 corners, a mix of high and low speed bends that always produce thrilling racing.

“Hopefully we can carry on our form from Slovakia Ring and try to win at Oschersleben. The points are close at the top and we need a good finish here to go to Suzuka and fight for the championship. I felt really good on the bike in testing yesterday and my injuries from Slovakia are better now, so I feel confident for Germany. Our team is strong and the bike is quick, and I think we can fight for the victory.”

“After the victory at Slovakia Ring we are much closer in the championship and our aim for the Oschersleben 8 Hours is to score as many points as possible. The weather looks to be hot so it will be a demanding race for sure, as we know from previous years at this track it is a challenging race. Everyone else is strong this year, but we are ready to challenge and to fight for the best result we can get.”

“We had a good day of testing on Wednesday at Oschersleben. The target for the race is to fight for the victory, we’re coming here from a win in Slovakia and we know we are strong at this stage in the championship. The title is still open and we can win it in Suzuka so we need to score some big points to do that. Oschersleben is a good track for Yamaha and for the team, as always we will try our best and aim for a good result at the chequered flag.”

“We come to Germany after a great win at Slovakia, and we showed that our package of bike and riders is very strong with good performance in mixed weather conditions. We had fast pace at Oschersleben last year, that race was disappointing but our confidence is high for this weekend and the weather is forecast to be better than Slovakia. Our competitors will of course be fast too but our aim is to continue our form and take the win in Germany.”
