Ángel Nieto Team complete second day of three at Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto
The second day of the new Triumph era of Moto2 saw Luca Marini, Sam Lowes and Álex Márquez set the pace at Jerez. Marini, second fastest behind compatriot Lorenzo Baldasarri yesterday, found another eight tenths today as he stopped the clock at 1’41.524. Jorge Navarro, Augusto Fernández and Xavi VIerge joined Márquez to make it four Spaniards in the top ten.

Ángel Nieto Team riders Jake Dixon and Xavi Cardelús continued to make progress on their KTM machines on the second day of the 2019 preseason. The British rider and the Andorran are taking on a brand new challenge with the Triumph 765cc engines and KTM chassis and today they were both able to improve their lap times. Dixon was three tenths quicker than yesterday in the two sessions that beat the weather, finishing 2.6 seconds off the top. Cardelús completed 45 laps with a best time of 1’44.803, almost a second quicker than yesterday.

27th Jake Dixon 1:44.148 (30 laps): “I still don’t have the best feeling with the bike, we’re struggling a little bit, but we are working hard together with the team to understand this KTM. For example, today we improved the feeling with the front end. It is incredible the job that the team are doing to help me get comfortable. It is a shame that the rain came and limited the track time because we need as many laps as possible in these tests. We could do with another session in the dry because we have worked on some things that could help us improve. Hopefully it doesn’t rain tomorrow because otherwise we’ll have to wait until next year to try them.”

29th Xavi Cardelús 1:44.803 (45 laps): “Today we made a big improvement compared to yesterday because I was able to ride comfortably from the start on the KTM. Little by little we have fixed our issues and we never stopped working. Every time I get on the bike I improve but unfortunately today we didn’t get to complete the programme of work we had planned because it rained most of the day.”
