Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Hill Scores Second Place To Keep Double Digit Point’s Lead

. By Bikeland Staff

Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Justin Hill rode a consistent race on a continually changing track inside CenturyLink Field to finish second, allowing him to retain his double digit point’s lead with two rounds remaining. Hill’s teammate Austin Forkner did not race after enduring a hip injury in practice leading up to the event. He’s being evaluated on a week-by-week basis.

The day was nearly perfect for Hill who collected the top qualifier and another heat race win on a cold night in Seattle. Hill, who is from Yoncalla, Oregon, looked unfazed by the challenging track and let that confidence shine in the main event.

Because of the conditions the main event was knocked down to 12 minutes and after working his way up into the top five, the main event was red flagged for an injured rider. The racers were forced to complete a full restart, but it benefited Hill who started a bit better and quickly made his way into second by the second lap. He would be challenged for the position, but would ultimately settle into the runner-up spot and ride a smooth race to finish second on the night.

“I just fell into the groove and tried to ride safe because the track was just unreal,” said Hill. “I did what I could do to ride solid and not throw it away. I would love to have won, but didn’t feel like I needed to do anything that would cost me points.”
