Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki Eyes Return to Podium in Toronto
. By Bikeland Staff
Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy and Adam Cianciarulo have their sights set on the podium this weekend as the Eastern Regional 250SX Championship heads north of the border to Toronto for its third round. Following a challenging main event for both riders in Atlanta, Savatgy is looking to return to the top step of the podium while Cianciarulo is ready to breakthrough for his first podium of the season.
While Savatgy had to surrender the red plate last weekend after finishing fourth, he’s confident that, at just two points out of the championship lead, he can regain the control of the standings. Savatgy has never raced across the border inside the Rogers Centre, but has his eye on the winner’s trophy this weekend.
“I didn’t have a great race in Atlanta, but we salvaged as much as we could and are only two points back,” said Savatgy. “We’ve only had two races and we have plenty of racing left to get the red plate back. I’m really looking forward to racing in front of the Toronto fans.”
Cianciarulo is headed back to the place where his 2014 rookie season came to a premature end with injury, a memory he is looking to block out while aggressively going after his first podium of the season. With each weekend he gets under his belt, Cianciarulo gains valuable knowledge and additional experience to make the most of the next round.
“This weekend I’m concentrating on minimizing mistakes,” said Cianciarulo. “We had a great heat race last week and I know my speed is there. Of course a good start would help a lot, but even if I don’t get a good start, I have to focus and move through the pack.”
While there is no off-site autograph session this Friday, the riders will be signing autographs on race day at the Rogers Centre. Saturday’s race from Toronto will be broadcast via tape delay on FS1 starting 10:00 p.m. ET.
