Tacos and Good Deeds Gathers 177 Backpacks for OC School Children

Blue C celebrated its 3rd Annual Tacos and Good Deeds event on August 2nd. With the help of our friends at Rhythm, we were able to collect 177 backpacks from 100 guests. Tacos and Good Deeds is part of the Blue C Cares program, made possible by community support and local outreach.
The evening was filled with friends, family and colleagues coming together to give back and to learn more about Share Our Selves (SOS) and their continuous efforts to support Orange County children in need. Guests enjoyed dinner, drinks and dessert amongst lively music, a raffle and photo booth.
SOS founded their Back to School Program 21 years ago as part of their long-running and comprehensive safety net of services to local homeless and low-income populations. Each year, SOS provides backpacks filled with school supplies to Orange County children of low-income families, as well as to students in shelters, in special-needs programs, or directly to teachers.
“Blue C thanks everyone who donated and came out to support our event. It is because of you that this year’s event was a success,” said Michelle Antinora, Controller and Director of Blue C Cares. “In some instances, the children receiving these backpacks would have otherwise been without even a pencil on their first day of school. This backpack gives them the tools they need to succeed and grow into the leaders of our future.”
