Webb and Haaker Tied On Points Leading Into Las Vegas EnduroCross

. By Bikeland Staff

Round three of the GEICO AMA EnduroCross Championship will take place inside the Orleans Arena Friday, May1st. And if the challenging track and crazy obstacles aren’t enough, Cody Webb and Colton Haaker will be racing into Vegas tied at 45 points with Salt Lake City winner, Mike Brown, only two points back with 43. Racing can’t get any tighter!

Defending champion Webb, in his first season riding the FMF/RPM Racing Team Maxxis KTM, took an exciting win at the opening round in Daytona Beach to show that he is serious about holding onto the number one plate. He had to fight back from a mediocre start and two crashes to take that victory. Webb and Haaker both crashed spectacularly on the opening lap of the Salt Lake City round and Webb recovered for a fourth place finish.

Haaker, riding his new Rockstar, Lucas Oil-backed Husqvarna, salvaged a second place finish in Daytona despite suffering broken ribs and a lacerated spleen just two weeks before the event. Haaker rode an amazing race at round two in Salt Lake City to nearly take the win on the last lap after the first lap altercation with Webb. The second place finish left him tied with Webb so both riders will be running the red number plates designated for the points leader.

Mike Brown took the win at the Salt Lake City GEICO EnduroCross, his first since taking three wins in the 2013 season. Brown had a perfect night as he won his heat race and set the fastest time during the evening hot laps before taking the main event win, leading every lap. The ageless veteran proved without a doubt that he is a massive threat for the 2015 title.

The Factory Beta team of Max Gerston and Kyle Redmond has shown great speed in 2015 with each racer earning a podium finish this season. You can ad in Cory Graffunder, Kevin Rookstool, Ty Tremaine, Nick Thompson, Destry Abbott, Geoff Aaron and Wild Wally Palmer as riders to watch as well.

If that’s not enough to get you excited, the Las Vegas event, three rounds into the 2015 season, will be a qualifying race with three X Games Enduro X spots up for grabs. Speaking of X Games qualifying, check out the launch ramp in the middle of the floor—this will be used for the first ever X Games Step Up qualifier.
