. By Bikeland Staff

At INTERMOT, the leading trade fair for motorcycles, scooters and bicycles, fans of top-quality customized motorcycles can get an impression of the creativity and expertise of those who have committed themselves to meeting this special challenge of motorcycle construction. Customizers use components they have bought or built themselves to alter or completely rebuild series-produced bikes in order to create a unique model that perfectly meets the owner’s wishes. Visitors to INTERMOT Cologne will be able to see about 100 custom bikes at the Cologne Custom Championships, whose spectacular finale will be held for the second time at the fair. In the exhibition area in Hall 10.1, private designers and professional customizers will be displaying their machines in the five categories of Chopper, Cruiser, Fighter, Sports Bike and Scooter. The INTERMOT visitors will vote to determine the “Best of Category”. An independent jury of experts will choose the “Best of Show” winner, who will be directly qualified to participate In the Customizing World Championships in Sturgis, South Dakota, and will win a travel gift certificate worth €5,000.

The winners of the visitor poll — five winners in each category — will receive trophies and an invitation to the CUSTOMBIKE 2010 trade fair in Bad Salzuflen. The Cologne Custom Championship show and competition will be organized by the German Motorcycle Industry Association (IVM) and Koelnmesse in cooperation with AMD-American Motorcycle Dealers Magazine and the Huber Verlag publishing company. Calls for entries to the competition have been published in the magazines Bikers News, Custombike and Dream Machines.
