You ain't seen stupid Jr.
No disrespect but you've only been to one DG event. You've missed some CRAZY rides. Nothing like going over there and seeing most everyone bringin' their A-game. Just ask Chris about the Cherohala run that he,Mike, Roger and I made a couple years ago in September. He'll tell ya. I still refer to that as the "Cherohala Death Ride". Honest to god I do.
That day was one of the coolest rides I've ever been on. I'll never forget that day, nor do I think any of the other guys will. Perfect weather, bikes all ran great, and the pace was friggin' smokin'. 
I know where you're at though Jon, we do run a very hot pace. Emphasis on "Very Hot".

Well, when I said "We" I meant the guys I ride with around here. I'm talking about what we rode last year compared to what we ride now.
The pace we all rode at DG was very comfortable for me.
It doesn't matter to me what you all want to do. If you guys run faster than what I'm willing to that's fine. I was making no comment as to what has happened at other DG events nor what will happen at this one.
It was a conversation with the local guys about 'our' pace.
And, yes I have seen stupid at DG - even though I've only been to one thus far. Pops.
And I know Roger can run a damned hot pace, too.

Jon I completely understand about your friend man. It does have an effect on you and it should to some extent. Mark and I just talked about this yesterday. From what I've heard, your pretty fucking fast and I think that's great. Chances are you are a good lick faster than I am and I also think that's great. While Rick is right about the Cherahola run we did a couple years ago, it was by the far the most intense 38 miles I've run, it's really something I am not "up for" again. ow don't get me wrong, I want to run a fast pace but as I told Mark, the only thing that matters to me is to get home to my pregnant wife and daughter. All this talk here is just that, talk. I coul care less who is faster or who is slower I just want to hang out with you guys. Mark and I were talking about you as well and I told him I was very comfortable riding with you. You were behind me in line for a good chunk of the Cheraola in May and you never ran up on me, never made the hair stand up on the back of my neck (like someone else) cause I thought you'd try to do something stupid. I didn't know you from Adam but I never once had the feeling that "I'm pulling over to let this guy by cause he may take me out". That's the way our rides are supposed to be Jon. Your straight in my book and if you want to ride slower than you normally do that's totally fine and if you want to ride faster than me or the others, that's fine too, just wait on me at the stop alright brother?

Yeah Chris, I'm with you bro. I really don't care who is fast and who isn't. I do care about who has their head on straight and is riding safely, no matter what the pace is. Things usually shake out pretty good and I know most all of us guys ride within a certain "comfort zone". I like to ride fast enough that I have no choice but to be really focused on the road ahead of me, I feel I'm safer that way. If you start riding slow enough that it is boring, your attention to the task at hand may waiver.
You've ridden more miles with me than any of the other guys here. I know you and the other guys trust me, and my judgement, that means a lot. I too trust Jon, he seems like a solid rider. I followed him on the Cherohala one day and he runs a great pace, very consistent rider. Also the day he followed you on the Cherohala, when I'd check my mirrors he was always the same distance back from you EVERYtime I checked on you guys. As I said consistent, and you....well I don't even worry about you, or Harry for that matter.
This trip I will more than likely be riding 2-up with the wife quite a bit. So I won't be in my usually spot, and I won't be running my normal pace of course. We ride pretty fast 2-up, so I don't think we'll lag too far behind. Bart may actually complete a pass on me this trip. But I won't make it easy on him.
I will be riding solo some too, so I'm thinkin' I'm gonna really enjoy this trip. Kinda the best of both worlds. When my wife and I were there back in June we really enjoyed the few rides we did get to take. But the ZRX1200 ain't no 12R in the acceleration, or braking dept. More flickable? Yes, but only a fraction of the stability a 12R has got. We are both looking forward to having Lil' Red this time.
I just hope everyone has a great time and rides within their limitations. I don't want to see any of you stupid bastards get hurt. Plus, now that I'm in the "computer" at the Blount Co. Sheriff's dept as receiving a warning ticket back in June, I've really got to watch it. The ticketing officer told me that no other breaks would be given to me if I get pulled over again. That is a bummer.

Yep, kids. I think we're all in agreement to just not get the 'racer's edge' bullshit get too thick. I hate cleaning up after wrecks - and god forbid anyone be in a wreck this event as well.
You boys really need to take a hit off the track pipe. Man, it's REALLY good! It'll spoil ya from riding on the street.
Have to tell ya, I'm contemplating selling the street bike all together and just sticking to the track.
But, I'M READY TO GO NOW!!!!!
Thanks for the compliments, boys. Coming from you guys that's a real treat. I kinda feel that once a pecking order is established that you ought to stick to it on a ride. Change up in a straight or when we stop.

Fellas I am so ready to be up there Riding....Kelly and I are going up over the Labor Day weekend to TWO....I think I may ride up to the DGVI a day or so early...that means I will get up there around the 16th or 17th...depends on Kelly...if she is comfortable hauling the truck and trailer all the way up there on her own..I already know the answer to that...gonna have to sweet talk her...lol
I am not into the racers edge shit either, we can all talk big smack..but its just that...hell I dont even ride that hard on the track...I cant afford to put the 600 back together if I drop it....then she will be assed off at me....lol
but I am with Rick, I like to go fast enough to make it interesting...prolly push about 70% or so, no more...I need to keep that cushion....

otis i tryed to email you more then ten time it kept comming back to me.
didnt know what the hell was wroung then gave up and forgot about it.
well as far as balls to the wall ridding sometime cool most times not for me.
not that i cant just i feel the risk is way to great for the short thrill i get.
