Poll Question:
DG XII, (located in Suches GA) What are good dates for you all?

Ok here is the question at hand. What are good dates for those of you would like to attend teh Rally this May? Keep in mind, that this is actually being held in Suches GA. For those that want to ride the Gap, we can make a day of it and ride up there. Its about an hour and a half ride, give or take due to traffic and police.
Some of you have not yet ridden norther GA. Thats ok, there are plenty of people in the group that has and we can show you all around. We can break down in groups so that everyone rides a comfortable pace along the new routes.

Trust me when I say, you wont miss Deals after you ride some of the roads near Suches. And there are far fewer police and squids around there.

Ok so the dates are as follows....keep in mind I am just throwing weekends out. I myself am driving quite a ways, so I will probably leave after work one friday, and stay until through 2 weekends, depending on who rides with me, if anyone....I am also looking to see if there is a trackday at Barber near the dates as I have always wanted to ride Barber and this will be my best chance.

While there are lodging accomidations in and around Suches, there are more just north in Morganton GA, and some to the south a few miles in Dahlonegha GA too. Hellen GA is a great little town that is about 35 minutes away. Look it up on the web. There are alot of things to see, including water falls, Brasstown Bald Mountain, and Black Top Mountain, and Tulleulah Gorge. Along with Travelers Rest, a mid 1800's hotel. Some of the roads we can ride are HWY 60, HWY 180(Wolf Pen Gap Rd.), Blood Mountian(which is HWY 129, the same road as Deals Gap), HWY 75, HWY 348, War Woman Rd., SC28, and NC 28 up towards Highland NC. These are only a few of the roads....and of course for you die hard Deals fans, we can do that in a day relatively easy.

I know one of the weekends is a Holiday, I obviously dnot want to do that, but I dont know which is the holiday. My vote is for may 23-26, but I will probably leave on May 17th, and get there the 18th. Again that depends on who is riding with me, and if I can get a track day during that time. If 23-26 is the holiday, then I am for moving it to the weekend before, 16-19...you get the point....lol

I will be home in the next week or 2 and I will have beeter communications, and will give some of you all a call and we can try to work things out.

Jim

Like I said, in my first post....I will be there....whatever the date is, just dont want the 4th, its a race weekend for me. if the 26th is the weekend, then I obviously dont want that either, so though my vote in the poll is for that weekend, I am all about the weekend before......lol

Brett you need a trackbike now so we can do a trackday at Barber...

most trackdays dont require any kind of liscense, or school.....some do however require membership to their organizations...Its worth looking into...as we get closer I will check on Barbers website to see if they have anything during that time frame and what organization is sponsoring it.

never ridden either of them, but I know that Barber does days with sportbike tracktime, and a few other orginizations that arent related to race orgs.
I know that these tracks dont require it:
Putnam
Roebling
Road Atlanta
Nashville
Jennings
Arroyo Secco

cant speak for all of them, but as we get closer I will call around and get more detailed info, most organizations dont even have their 2008 schedules yet....lol

I will try to make it. Believe what the man says about the roads in Suches...I was at a place called T.W.O a few years back [ stands for two wheels only] a resort that caters to motorcyclists. The roads are un-fucking believable. The woman with me got motion-sick....no shit. ...dry county though, if I remember right.

Britt and GT own TWO, I found that place back in 01 when the wife and I were up there on a vacation in that area. The roads around there are a blast. I know they have a website for the lodge...TWO is exactally what is says, 2 wheels only. You have to have a motorcycle in order to stay there. They do pretty good food in the lodge. Check them out online or look up their website...If you do a search of the area, also check out Hellen GA, its a bavarian style town with awsome german food resteraunts. I

Going through Wolf Pen Gap Rd. (HWY 180) I got motion sick more than once...its a tight twisty road. The camp ground that I recomment if we dont use TWO is called Skeenah Gap Campground, its about 12 north of Suches on HWY 60, They have trailers there you can rent, plenty o RV lots, and tent camping areas. There are also numerous cottages in that area that can be rented....just some ideas

Suches

Ive been across hwy 180 afew times its a great ride also the ride up to Brasstown Bald is a nice ride. Many cabins in the area can be rented for like $600 or $700 for the week . Some many roads to ride and so little time!

the guys from the ZRXOA rally are the ones that turned me onto the Skeenah Gap Campground, they always treat those guys really well when they do their rallies there as well...Sheenah has a covered pavilion, and a little trout stream running through it...its pretty nice.

the wife and I had our little reception there when we renewed our vows last year...its very nice....
