Will the VFR 1200 be a success?
Hi All,
Just a few thoughts on the New VFR 1200. As an owner of 6 VFR's over the last 12 years I think I know what the average VFR owner needs. Not the least is Single sided swing arm, intergrated turn Signals and centerstand. These are the basic requirements to the average VFR owner yet not all are met with the 1200. The price jump may not be as big a deal as many may think, we know what we are getting and will pay the price if this bike does all it's promised.
As I mentioned earlier the price is a risk for many manufactures right now as the economy is far from stable and Honda does not make a new product knowing it will lose money. The price is not out of line but I do hope somewhere along the way the center stand becomes a part of the deal. I understand that shaft drive does not require as much maintenance but we VFR owners like working on our bikes and the centerstand is a huge advantage in helping us.
I'm glad to see Honda moving forward, but will the VFR1200 be a success? Provided there are no major issues, I think yes but the numbers will be greatly reduced because of the economy.

I think the VFR1200 is nice but for that price I think I would go with the K1300S! Just my opinion!

I hope it doesnt flop, i am not a vfr owner but I would like to be in the future. I guess time will tell and I hope to see a couple on the street and also maybe some of my buddies may get one. I have to pay the r1 off and that will be my cruiser. How much is the new VFR?

I can't help but feel disappointment in calling it a Sportbike, the psychological affect of that won't help it at least down here in south Fl. where Busa's and ZX's rule the highways. Calling it a Sport Tour would justify it's exhistance and reasons to buy one much better.

Well Mother Honda does make mistakes both in model offerings as evidenced by the flop DN01which if had been priced around 7-8 thousand might have sold. Lets hope that this one is a success.

I have already read a few artcles that warned Blackbird fans saying don't expect the VFR to be a replacement for it performance wise.

I was reading the British Press and they seem to believe Honda has a great bike on their hands. I think the quote was, "Without a doubt the bike of the year" provided the year is 2005.

Honda made a big mistake outfitting it with the BT 021 tires. They have the same poor turning symptoms that gave my C-14 some rough reviews in the turning department. I anyone buys this bike, they should make the dealer exchange the tires for PR2's or Angle ST's. I think I will keep my Connie for now.

For those interested, an around Australia test of the VFR1200 is underway, with regular updates. Current riding has been through wet and cold conditions from the SBK races at Philip Island, going north.
