9's in the 1/4??

Go by Qtip, Qfasttoo, TED.. What ever you want to call me is fine with me..

I own a Gen ll VMax now for around 4 years and i'm not the biggest drag guy, but i like to go and see what bike and myself can do sometimes..I just never have the time to really work on lowering my time..And that's what it takes..Hittin' the track for some seat time..

I now have a flash and strapped fron end..Oh, and Quickshfiter installed and now i just need to get my FatA$$ to the track..

MOd list

Monster BigAir/K&N filters
Quickshifter
Flashed ECU/Tim, Guru
PCV
Brocks Map for the BigAir
UFO full 4-1 exhaust

BEAST is 660 lbs and with me in full gear = 900 lbs..
Best time in the 1/4 b4 the Q/S and the Flash and a starp is a 10.26 with a 1.73 60'

Now my Question is what am i doing wrong to not get into the 9's???

Best 60' is a 1.66 i do believe..with a best of 6.64@108mph in the 1/8 mile, but i haven't done this @ the 1/4 mile with tho's times..

Any help would be GREAT..

Plan to hit some 1/4 miles when this TEXAS heat goes away or comes down somemore..

Hey Q-Tip, you answered your own question, track time is the answer, having Mondays off from work makes it easy for me to race most weekends, you're going to have to go a few weekends in a row, possible a Wednesday night in there.

If I remember you live up North around Denton? Go to that 1/8th mile as much as you can to get practice, then go 1/4 mile..The short track will sharpen the launch, the rest will be an easy 9 second pass.

If you can get at least 3 weekends in a row, and you get consistent 6.40's I think that will net your elusive 9 second pass at Dallas Raceway. I think you can do it in this Texas heat..

Good Luck

One other thing you can do is get close up video of the launch, watch it over and over and you can see and hear how to improve take off.

Thx Wee!!

I got my 60' times down by going to the Denton 1/8 by just about a .10 ..Doesn't sound like much , but that's hard to do for me..Helped having the flash and a strap..Now i have a Quickshifter , but haven't used it out @ the track yet..I'm thinking i will get me another tenth on off my time in the 1/4..What do you think?

I just never have time to go that much to the track..I know i could lose some lbs off me as well would help in the long run as well.. Bike has just about everything it can to drop lbs..

does it help to not run with a full tank of gas as well? I always fill up b4 i go so i don't have too late..Maybe a 1/4 tank?? ANything to help..

Don't think the fuel weight is your enemy, it's the initial first 5 feet, got to get that tank to move as quick as you can without popping the clutch, gotta be smooth, the added mods will really help. Denton races on Saturday night right? Let me know when you might go and I can help you with body position on the launch, makes the leave easier to be in a good position.

Will do, and i try and stay up on the tank much as i can..Shinko's have a lot of grip and i tend to wheelie out in 1st and 2nd gear on good runs..Just have to stay in it to make it work..

Left foot on the shifter ready for 2nd gear @ the line..Hold rpm's @ around 4-4.5 grand seem to work the best.Soon as the light counts down i let out full throttle and let it rip..and i'm thinking with some more seat time with the new Mods i'll get there, but just hasn't happend yet..

I know it's a BIG TURD i'm on, but it's my Big Turd..And i LUV it!!

I never liked the idea of left foot on the peg, both legs back a little you have plenty of time to mount them before the shift, upper body low as you can get and be comfortable, my 14r is a pig too, gotta get those pigs movin quick lol
