LOL if this actually can to Canada I would consider a third morgage

I thought everyone wants more power.....add light weight to your understanding of what is desireable in controling any bike unless you are doing an ultra high speed run where stability is a must ....bra....

It's ok stevewfl....nice try....My experience includes venturing in canyons in New Mexico..lived there 12 years close by the Rockies...never needed a shaft drive bud....

Theory never outweighs experience...give me more power and lightweight in canyon steep adventure; my chain drive bikes were rugged how old was you in 1975??; what you taiking about...more theory??.....you must be talking crossing african plains for 2 weeks on end??....boring....

adventure bikes cross more than african planes if you use them for what they're designed for. maybe hang out on your drag strip or take a weekend ride if the wife lets you. the ZX10 is perfect, probably the best ever

Read my posts...New Mexico Rockies...canyons and steep inclines in rugged exploratory terrain junior....been there done that,...the last thing I would want is a heavy guttless bike....
you can keep your theories.....

light weight and generous power is the way to have fun....ever see a trail bike with a shaft drive??
you are favoring a street bike that can do limited off road...nothing else.....

The only people that want heavy over burdened adventure bikes are squids
A true adventure bike need not be heavy and packed so full as to start breaking shock mounts
Durable yes that why I am really hoping this shaft drive is successful
The only other shaft drive adventure is a Beemer which impossible to fix without millions in tools plus there sticker price is retarted

Hey it's all good.....I done my share of off road with a 1976 Yamaha YZ 250 motocross and a lightweight 185 enduro Suzuki with a noguchi kit ; it would wheelie in third gear....lots of adventure in New mexico...
not talking theory....horse trails in steep canyons ,with desert plains below where a variety of off roads are everywhere throughout the state........and for miles on end....ask Hellslord...he is from that area...
I can see somemone packing stuff and going long haul over not so challenging terrain with a tenere 1200 .... being somehwat carefull as a way to go places at a distance......that is adventure in it's own way...and includes street riding... if that is what suits ya....
it all has it's pluses and negatives...with limits I mean....
just depends .....
I never cared for shaft drive myself....can't see it as a critical option........God enjoys variety and I do too......no brainer really....
whatever turns you on.....
