Vmax goes 8.87 @ 156 but pays the price to do it ..

I Guess some of you allready heard this but Jon at UFO went 8. 87 @ 156 ... Just a few weeks ago we saw him go 9.22 and now 8.87... I was guessing on what he did to drop so much ET in a very short time ... His 9.22 was done with a street tire and NO wheely bars , he had a 60 foot in the 1.50s for that 9.22 pass ...
I had guessed he would need a 60 foot time in the 1.30s to run that 8.87 pass and the only way i could see that happening was wheely bars ... Well wheely bars is what he did use along with a aftermarket front end and light weight front wheel ...God only knows what else he did to get that 8 second pass because so far he is not talking ..
It's cool to see the Vmax boys get a Vmax into the 8s but it was at one hell of a cost to get it done ..We all know with just bolt ons and a street tire the zx14 will run 8s and remain fully streetable unlike the Vmax .. ZX14 wins again , but we all knew that ...

I think the bike can be made to run those #'s without the wheelie bar...

Get a real rider on it. I doubt they have $40k in it, which is what I've seen pro street bike sell for. There's a big difference in 600+hp vs a vmax with wheeliebars! Someone should bolt some bars to a BONE STOCK 14 and see what it would run with a good rider. That would be funny...

For what that Vmax cost to go 8s I'm pretty sure i could buy 3 used zx14s and mod all three of them to run 8s and have money left over ..

Having to use a wheely bar to get into the 8s is a shame seening we all have seen no bar bikes run in the 7s ... Stock for stock , mod for mod the Vmax is way behind any sport bike on the market ..Yamaha had a good idea but dropped the ball by making it 180+ pounds to heavy ...I talked to the FL sale rep from Yamaha two weeks ago and he said they only sold a total of 1700 Vmaxs for 09 ...He said all 2010 Vmax were order only, meaning no dealer get one unless it's sold first ..

Cool bike ? Yes it is ....But weighs to much ,19k MSRP and the price to mod it is way to costly ..

The point is, not everyone wants a zx14. I think it's cool what they've done with the vmax! Now if honda would give us a fast bike things would get real interesting!

True but it's seems with only 1700 units sold not many want a Vmax either ...

mph seems a little high without nitrous. I don't care what they do to it! I think it's cool that they are going fast.

Well i guess you can call them simple mods ..... Tricked out custom ( one off ) air induction system ( no filter ) , drag slick , full exhaust system, speed limiters removed , weight down to 600 pounds ,PCV and race fuel .. But yes it was a stock motor ..

More like .63 and 8 mph slower (same day, I believe?), even with though that Vmax had a lighter rider, near 5" more wheelbase and race fuel. Ouch.

worlds first 8 sec. Vmax pass??? think again...

http://www.pcwracing.net/darrellvmax/darrellsbike5.htm

a friend of mine (Darrel Aubin at PCW racing) was doing 8's back in 2006, all motor. Problem was keeping a tranny in the damn thing...he really wanted to go with a billet tranny. He was well over 260lbs...a big guy. I'll have to send him this thread.

This topic is more beat then flies, tires, and oil recommendations all mixed into one..... I think the new vmax is cool. everyone knows its slower mod for mod, dollar for dollar. who cares?

The bars help the e.t., not so much the mph.

Remember Racers and his "stock motor" Busa going the same mph? People were guessing around 230 HP to do that.

Throw on another 100 pounds and what does it take for that mph? 250 HP? 260 HP?

So I'm guessing at least a 60 shot, maybe more .............

I could be wrong. I was wrong once before.
