The bike should definitely do 156 mph+ if it is 200 hp and 500 lbs. I have run 154.74 on 186 hp with a combined weight of 685-690 lbs....and I'm looking for more.

You really think on the same dyno you make 177 that the vmax will put up 200hp? I don't see it unless they went into the motor but that's just my opion.

Yamaha says the VMAX weighs 683 lb with a full tank of gas.
4 gallon gas tank, pull 3 gallons, subtract about 20 pound = 663 pounds.
Knock off 163 pounds to get to 500?
Somebody explain to me how to knock off 163 pounds, 'cause that's my next mod on the 14.
550 minus 163 = 387 pounds.
Yeah, that's the ticket - my 14 weighs 387 pounds and I'm not sprayin', really, it's so light I don't need to ....................

Well my dyno reads low so i have no idea what Jons bike would dyno ..Lets say it only did 180 HP on my dyno and weighs the same as my bike ..It still should do 155 MPH..

I also can't see that bike losing that much weight. where did it come from. most bikes abs adds 10 to 12 lbs tops. sure the wheelie bar almost made up for that. so where else does around 160 lbs come from?

Rear wheel, tire , front wheel, front tire , forks , brakes , ABS, exhaust, air box, turn signals , tail lights, handle bars and god knows what else he pulled off ..I don't know if the bike is 500 pounds , i'm just saying if it is 500 pounds and 200 hp it should run 8s..The bike could weight 550+ pounds and have a 50 shot for all i know ..

Seems the bogging out of the hole he found a fix? kudos to him, could care less what it cost him to get there. Just one rider on a cruiser trying new things and having fun!
He may have more in it yet..
Too bad Yamaha did not offer a chain driven version and 150 lbs lighter and more cr, wilder cams.
But..someone will make one and will be an interesting project .
That sound of that V-four is worth it .Hell i'd take CBX1000 with 6 -1 Kerker knowing it is slow pig but that sound...ahhh

I saw many 14s out there but didnt see any in the grudge racing . Not to say the 14s werent running some good times . In the grudge racing I did pretty good . I had six runs . I lost twice . One to a Turbo busa and another to a real grudge busa . I was honestly trying to get teasley on the bike to see what he could cut , but Stupid AMA waited untill the middle of the night to do the grudge runs .

I didn't take this thread as a 'hate' thread or a jealous thread.. I took it as Smokin is up to date on drag racing as he is there every week. He has seen what the bikes will do and it was obvious to him that although impressive what was accomplished, the guy was embellishing a bit (on his mods). We all know that this is common in drag racing. That is why everyone calls to see the slips etc... Let's face it, the more money you spend- the faster you go. The point I got was that this bike had a lot of money in it... AND it was fast. (Hence the thread title.) Everyone in drag racing wants to get the bragging rights so they spend money to go faster. I remember a pro drag bike rider took my 85 GS1150e bone stock to a 10.13. After lowering, pipe, clutch, sprockets etc.. I was barely able to beat that. I am more impressed how people can ride the same bike as someone else and show their talent by getting better times by sheer riding ability more than how fast they can go. Spend more money... go faster. I really like to see completely stock bikes drag because then it has nothing to do with mods... it is all driver. although I do like to hear what everyone is able to make their bikes do such as 311, smokin, teddy, bawls, Bentley, Shane etc...

Jon's bike was set up with products that he and others have developed for the new Max . Half the problem with the bike is over riding or cutting out all the electronic B.S. that is on this bike. I have his exhaust and tuner box with some other mods done on my 09 bike and when tuned too race mode it goes from almost flat sounding on the throttle to wide open the same way a nitrous inj. bike would sound , in street mode it seems to rev a little slower . Granted he saved weight by changing the front wheel but try to find a place to put nos on the bike and let me know when you do! I have taken my bike all the way apart already looking for a place to hide a small bottle and it's a no go so far. Look at all the experimenting the V-Max Guru has done to help free up power plus every one keeps saying 500 lbs try 600+ lbs for the bike then take into effect that Jon Cornell has raced for yrs., now any one knows that an inline 4 is better for making power then a v-4 this bike is not as simple as putting on an IVANS tre and a diffrent filter .

Stock front end from what bike though? John cornell is a good rider, but not any better than pee wee, smokin, or vic gotay. I'm interested to se exactly what was done to it.

Gen 2 front forks are 52 mm those look about 35 , way, way lighter. He's ruint the bike in IMHO. Hell why don't I take my 14 motor put in a mini-bike frame and claim the first 14 in the 6's

Does it really matter any way , all everyone will say is how much faster there ZX 14 is or haw fast their Busa is . I also said in my earlier post that the front wheel was changed , I will get some pictures of my bike up after removing the excess crap of the front end and it is the same but then again I am blind as all you plastic bike riders say.

Thats ok , I have my 6 bikes I will continue to enjoy . I knew coming on this site after that 24 yr. old kid said how good it was it would be a mistake , I'll just go back to a real riders board where we actually put miles on our bikes instead of talking trash on everyone and everything just because I don't own a ZX 14. This is just like a bunch of Harley Assholes . And yes I own 2 V-max's ,a Busa , Blackbird , ZX-11 and soon to be finished Z-1R Turbo. now let the shit slinging begin.
