should we give props on his skill to run the 8 on motor, or disagree that he's not telling people that he is spraying to get the 8?

Thinkin ab it, why not buy a harley vrod?? Guys down in clearwater run those numbers without wheelie bars..

buy a vrod @ 15k (they spent more) drop another 25k ++ figuring it out... naw i will stick with the 14

I wasn't comparing a vrod to a 14. I was comparing the vrod I've seen haul ass vs this vmax that no one can make run 8's. And come to think of it, I should take back that statement bc they don't have a stock motor.

If you took the time to read my first post you would see i gave them props ... And like i told you before put a stock motor in your busa and i'll be happy to run you ...

Guys i made a guess on the Vmax site of what might have been done to Jons ( UFO) bike to get it into the 8s ..Tim The Vmax Guru had posted on his website some clues on what had been done to the UFO bike and from there i made my guesses... Here is what i posted ..

One.. I think he has ditched the fly by wire along with the ABS system

Two ..I think some how he has lowered the gear ratio with either the rim size and or tire size or the rear end gear ratio it's self ..More likely rim size ..

Three.. It's clear the Jon has removed every Oz of weight he could find ..

Looks like he is running a M/T Drag Radial shoot out tire and as far as i know or have found out it only comes in a 17 inch .. The clue comes by way of Tim looking for a M/T Drag Radial tire ... Tim you can't find something they don't make ..lol

Tim posted after my post " Bingo "

So my guesses were right ... Jon and Tim seems to be a pretty savy guys finding all the factory limitations of the Gen 2 Vmax .. It is still unkown if Jon also used N20 to reach the 8s ... But the mods listed above surely seem to have played a big part of getting the bike into the 8s ...My guess is the bike is 500 pounds and making around 200 RWHP .. Those numbers along with the wheely bar makes 8.87 possible on motor alone..

Removing the fly by wire helped his 60 and 330 times ..
Adding a 17 inch rim and M/T shoot out tire lowered his gear ratio helping his 60 and 330 times ..This may be the reason the bike hits so hard when Jon goes WOT as seen in the video..
Removing every bit of dead weight like the ABS system and other items helped the MPH ..

Well, at any rate I am sure that the bog is costing him .10-.20...it sounds pretty bad to me.

That still doesn't explain the sudden light switch powerband that comes with a big puff of smoke.

Shane i'm wondering if it a bog or just that he can't go WOT without blowing the tire off and has to hold back a bit .. That is what i have to do on my bike so not to blow off the tire or wheely .. Could be the the sudden gain in power we see and hear in the video may just be Jon banging on full throttle in the top of first gear ..

Bawls I don't have all the answers but if you look at the video you can see Jon doesn't go WOT till after the 60 foot ...The bike might have a ton of power on tap by removing the fly by wire just like we get by removing the flys . Put that together with the 17 inch rim lowering the gear ratio like we do with a 16 tooth front sprocket and the bike might act like it has a light switch of power.. I'm not saying he doesn't have some spray but looking at the numbers it should run 8s without it ..

Lets not forget the bike has almost 1700 CCs .. At 500 pounds and 200 HP it should run like a raped ape ...

I don't know...it sure seems to rip through those gears like a chainsaw...maybe the real low gearing from the smaller diameter wheel??

Still seems suspect...the slip could tell us something. Has it been posted?

I have not seem a time slip yet and yes that would tell alot ... Going from an 18 rim to a 17 would sure make it Rev faster ..I wonder where the 17 inch rim came from ?

He could have had it fabbed up by Kosman perhaps...I've seen Gen1 Vmax differential's put in other oem rims before.

I don't think the mph the vmax ran is possible on motor only? 500lbs and 200 hp don't equal that much mph.
