I have had mine for about 2 months now.Fun bike to cruise around on and burnouts
that shame my sport bikes.Sort of pricey but I always wanted a generation 1 max and
never did jump so this new bike caused me too jump the sport bike fence.Very happy
with the bike but would not want it as my only bike.

No mods yet,I would consider an exhaust change if AKRO does a pipe for the big max.
There is a lot of talk about changing the 148 top limit but that does not concern me.
Even if you drop the limiter this is a cruiser with cruiser aeros and no fairing. If I want
to run top end the MAX is not what I would roll out of the shop.I have heard one bike with
an exhaust which sounded good but was way too loud for my tastes.I hope the boys at AKRO come thru with a pipe.

YAMAHA offers the race ecu which raises the rev limit to 10300 and removes all the limiters for a top speed of 185 + removing the restrictive stock air filter is good for 8 hp

No one I have met has ever seen one of the "race" ECUs,and I have spoken to three
dealerships who have all told me they dont have a part # . If it does ever become available
I would like the extra HP but top end runs on a naked bike are "interesting".
I also have a B-KING which will run a real 165 on top and without a fairing the word
is parachute.

even 180 seems a wee bit on the fast side for a claim... vmax has the aeros of cardboard box .. I'd be interested to see a real verified top speed run on one

I have been a real GPS 166 mph on the B-KING with a 5-6 mph tailwind.
Its amazing how much diffrent it feels on the B compared to my BUSA or my old 14.
On the BUSA 165 is calm and smooth thru the air but on the KING you just cant seem
to get flat enough to smooth out the wind. But considering the bikes standard layout and
no plastic high speed runs are really out of its normal use.I will check on the race ECU
number and see about uncorking the max.,but I been past 140 on the MAX already and
the air is like being next to semi at high speed. Also it has a wildly optomistic speedo
that reads 163 at 140.With this speedo the bike will probably show 180 at about 158!!
How does your buddy like his? Everywhere I take mine people ask about it and I tell them
its overpriced, heavy, and wont hook up off the line but I love it !!

Thanks for the info I will call and see if they have another ECU. I heard the ufo pipe in a video on the vmax guru's site.Sounds wicked but maybe a little loud for me.I checked the
site for decibel ratings but didnt find any.I love the Akrapovic pipes and I put Brocks on my
14 and my new Busa.If either jumps on the Max I'm ready.

I have removed air filters for dyno runs but street use with no filter is high risk.I have seen many scorched cylinders from dust and bugs.If you were riding in the 80's like me you will
remember the old velocity stacks that were everywhere .They added 1-3 HP to most bikes and cut motor life in half. One of my riding buddies had a 85 Ninja 900 with a Yoshi pipe and stacks,I can still remember the nasty howl ,Viagra has nothing on that sound echoeing on a late summer night. But everything has its price, the bike had to be re-ringed 12K miles.
Probably worth it though.

A ride tomorrow sounds good but the weatherman says snow and freezing rain so the toys will stay in the shop.If it clears up at all I'm taking my busa to my local dealer for a dyno check.I've changed my map and need to see if my ass is lying to me.I'll be very interested in your buddys dyno results with the max ecu.Is he going to the same dyno as before?

Hey rapid2 did your buddy get his dyno run in,I got stuck at the house watching the rain and sleet. Some sources the ecu boosts power everywhere and others say just removes the top end limit.
