The 06 14 rocked when it came out...it was a faster than hell powerhouse that I believe still holds the quickest 1/4 mile time ever for a production bike. Unfortunately, the public seemed to be expecting alot more...like they always do And the new max was expected to beat everything.....huge expectations for what it was really designed to do. It couldn't help but fail those kind of expectations

it won't go far on a tank of gas so sport touring is out, it doesn't look as good as the transformer naked 'busa Bking so picking up wiminz is out,
we know it doesn't drag race, and it weighs almost as much as the ship that delivered it.... costs a fortune....
someone help me understand what Yamaha's main objective was in bringing this bike to market?
......... don't take me serious I'm just fishin' for more drama!
The bike was designed to be parked by coffee shops to be bragged about by some owners about how powerful it is and how fast it is. They will brag to people who will believe what they say and have no clue about bikes.
I cant waite for one to come into the local Yamaha dealership so I can go listen to the salesman gloat about the mighty V-Max.
Newf14
Why are you hanging out in the local Yamaha shop?
I dont hang out there but it is next to the Suzuki dealership I work at, I love power crusers myself I have a 1986 besides my ZX14 and it is a stop light to stop light bike as well. Just good for around town as long as there isnt much distance between gas stations. 11 liter tank 130 km than 25 or so on reserve.
Newf14
I loved my 85 Vmax , i had it for two years before i broke second gear .. I replaced the gear and sold it to a friend in England .. I think he still has it !! There was not a single thing i didn't like about that bike .. I had PeeWees poster from Badlands raceway pinned to my wall for years ...Try as i might i could not run the numbers that PeeWee did , i had stacks of 11.0s and very few high 10.s passes ... My best ever was 10.92 , but in 1985 that was fast for a stock bike !! I think i paid right at 5200 bucks , man that was a lot of cash back then for a bike .... My 79 CBX new was only 1800 bucks but i did work for Honda back then so i got a deal on the bike .. The Vmax was the last bike i had till 2005 ...20 years i went bikeless till i got a new zrx1200R and shortly after a new 2005 Busa ..
Yea I can dig it Newf14. I bought a brand new Max in '06 I mean as soon as it hit the floor. But by the Summer it wasn't giving me the thrill I'm used to so I took it back and traded it for my first '06 ZX14, rode that uncomfortable no bottom end bitch till the Fall. Took it back and got my original VMax that I traded back, which mad me the first and second owner of the bike. I didn't care for it until I rode the ZX14 then I was in love with my Max enough to get it back. Put a Kerker on it and VBoost and that bitch was peppy then. Fast109 was kicking my ass until I got the pipe on, but that M109R ran it's ass off and would beat the thing on a good day. Nothing to do with riders, I had IMFAST TOO on it and he beat the 109 from a roll, but that 109 would leave the Vmax sitting at the gate with all that torque and and wheel base. Oh yea the 109 would wheelie, I saw it, freaked me out. Fast 109 ran a 10.69 @125 mph ain't no Vmax running that kind of times. We had a freind take his piped with hindle muffler lowered and jetted with a stage 7 and ran a 10.85 @ 124. That's why Bawl Bag pisses me off because he's such a wanna be fuck bag, that doesn't know shit. If he knew the shit that IMFASTOO and me forgot about making horsepower he could get a college degree in engineering. Anyway the old Max was a great all around bike, that would pull 38 to 40 mpg on the road, I did it! Ride it around punching it and the best I could get was 98 mpg. I now have a '09 ZX14 SE orange and black with Converti Bars Tobin Seat, ordered a Brock SMEG
and PCV with the Auto Tune. I also own an original 1976 KZ900 with original paint and it's clean ass hell. See I can be civilized until BOWELS opens his ignorant no nothing mouth.

Nice try hyping it up, yammy-HA
Manufacturers always refer to crankshaft horsepower. Rear wheel horsepower for the Max is 175 and the ZX14 is 161 according to Sportbike Magazine. Loosen that band up around your head asshole, let some blood get to that one brain cell.

I'm not sure if yamaha or the public started the rumour that it was going to be the new dragstrip king, but I think if that was yamaha's true plan it WOULD have been the king. They knew exactly what it was capable of as they were designing and releasing it to the public. I think the last bike that truly lived up to the pre-release hype was the 04 zx-10, and before that the busa. Everything since then seems to get a huge amount of over-hype from everybody, then falls flat on its face in the public eye's when its released. Like I said I think the new max is great for what it is........it just aint king of the world lol
You guys are just fucking scared and trying to convince yourself that it ain't so. We have one and as soon as the weather permits we'll be at Atco with it. I'll post the time slips, and unlike BOWELS we will race it against a ZX14 in the other lane. East Coast racers rule mutha' fuckas. Don't believe me ask Rickey.

The new Vmax is the shit! I sat on one myself- not bad at all.
Quickly started to wonder if they'll let me ride it with my regular
license or if I have to get an endorsement on it for oversized haul
or something No need to get a boat if you have one of them things
So, who's racing Mark before his mom stops paying his cable and internet bill?

Ok you know old saying, It's better to keep you mouth shut and have people wonder than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. You are a Moron!!! Ok now to answer your uninformed question. There are no restrictions built into the ZX14 ECU you magazine reading internet dork. The reason the new Max has an optional ECU, is to replace the stock one. The stock ECU for the new Max has a mph restrictor programmed into it that limits mph to 138. If you ever, and you won't because you don't ride, run across a new Vmax with the new ECU and the rev limiter raised while riding your street prepped slammed, I'll be damned ZX14. Turn around and run for you life and your reputation!!!!

Ohhhhh nooooo Shane not this one. Nooooo, we have an even bigger stick from Carpenter's shop. It's a CRUISER for those of you that need to know the class it falls under, and get this, it weighs 800lbs. Now with that we would line a ZX14, Busa and the new VMax up and tap that ass all at the same time, as soon as there is a tire sticky and big enough and a fool crazy enough to ride it. You want to see that stick??? I'm waiting for all the stupid ass remarks to come in. And then I will smack you all across the head with it. Just be careful what you ask for! Yea I'm trolling and wait 'till you see what I used for bait.

Just read a write up in MCN (UK), they took a V-Max and a Hayabusa to Santa Pod Raceway. The V-max did 10.7sec and the 'Busa 10.16sec through the quarter. Conditions were cold with damp air.

They also mentioned the Vmax was lighting up the tire in 3rd gear. They also said if the conditions were right it would of easily done low 10's.

Then the Busa would have done 9s....different bikes in different leagues. The V-max is cool and fast for what it is, but it's no competition for the 14 or Busa. Throw in rider ability and weight you may have some good races between the bikes. I've always liked the V-max, and for a comfortable bike with an upright seating position it's damn impressive.

Actually your a dork too. The ZX-14 also has a top speed limiter just like the new Vmax. It is set higher than the one on the Vmax - but - it is still there.
