Honda announces new CBR250R for 2011

Honda today released info on their newest model, a 250cc streetbike sporting the new styling introduced with the VFR1200F. Honda's Combined ABS is offered as an option. No word on price or performance as yet.

2011 Honda CBR250R

Honda says

American Honda Motor Company's Powersports Division announced to its dealers today the release of an all-new motorcycle designed for those entering the sport of motorcycling, one that's sporty, fun, lightweight and affordable: the CBR250R.

"This is really an amazing machine we're adding to Honda's list of models for 2011," said Powersports Press Manager Bill Savino. "The CBR250R is specifically aimed at new riders, yet it's packed full of high-tech features and offers great performance, all in a lightweight, affordable package. This new model expands another segment of the market for Honda buyers."

CBR250R: An Affordable Entry Into The Sport Of Motorcycling

The all-new 2011 CBR250R brings a fresh take on the fun side of motorcycling, one that especially suits riders entering the sport. Thanks to its extremely efficient 249cc liquid-cooled single cylinder engine—an all-new design featuring a sophisticated four-valve DOHC cylinder head, engine counterbalancer, and fuel injection—this dependable and lightweight machine delivers nimble handling, a broad spread of easily accessible power and low operating costs all in one. Whether the day calls for a commute to work, quick trips around town or all-day explorations in the countryside, the CBR250R is a great way to get acquainted with the many faces of motorcycling, all at an affordable price. Available in Metallic Black and Red/Silver beginning in Spring 2011. Also available with ABS.

Features

Single-Cylinder Engine
A single is the perfect choice for a bike like the CBR250R. It’s light, simple, returns excellent fuel economy, and features a broad powerband with plenty of low-revving torque—just what you want in a first motorcycle.

Counterbalance Shaft
Because it features a counterbalancer, the CBR250R engine is a smooth runner. You get the narrow overall width and power advantages of a single along with the smoothness of a multi-cylinder bike.

Fuel Injection
Fuel injection means the new CBR250R starts right up, even in cold weather. Compared to a carbureted bike, it also helps reduce emissions and enhance performance and fuel economy.

Layered Style Fairing
Take a close look at the CBR250R’s unique bodywork, which is designed for style and functionality. It routes airflow for both engine cooling and rider comfort, while creating a unique sportbike style. For even more choices, the 2011 CBR250R and CBR250R ABS models both come in two color choices: Red/Silver and Black.

Disc Brakes
The new CBR250R features front and rear hydraulic discs for excellent stopping power and brake feel. The single front disc helps keep things simple and lowers unsprung weight, too.
Features and Highlights (continued)

Pro-Link Suspension
The CBR250R uses a single-shock adjustable rear suspension that not only gives you a smooth ride, but helps enhance handling as well, just as on some of our larger sport models.

Low Seat Height
A low seat height does more than help make sure the CBR250R fits a wide range of riders. It makes it easier to put your feet down at stoplights and in parking lots—a big confidence builder.

Passenger Ready
A separate passenger seat, integrated grab rail, and standard passenger footpegs mean you can take a friend along when you go riding—another example of the CBR250R’s versatility.

Combined Anti-lock Brake System
Our Combined ABS can be a big help in making controlled stops in less than ideal conditions. Like on wet pavement, or when there’s sand on the road or other debris. It’s a perfect choice whether you’re using your new bike as a commuter or just riding it for fun since it helps you stop with added confidence.

Analog/Digital Instrumentation
The CBR250R’s digital gauges with analog tachometer provides vital riding information in a styled, hi-tech instrumentation package.

Underseat Storage
Removing the rear passenger seat provides a lockable area to throw a map, gloves, or a spare set of sunglasses.

Looks like a mini vfr1200 & just as ugly. At 360 lbs. this is destined to be a dog. More like 20.7 hp on the upper end.

As if kids don't already have a tough time enough time being bullied in high school....now they have this for their starter bike!!

Maybe Yamaha will bring back some two-stroke RD's and fix the youth of America.

Think there should be some WELL BUILT 450cc sportbike models out there with "decent" looks and good suspension/brakes instead of the clanker 500's that all look like shit and handle like lawn mowers.........my wife could use one, she's a bit too advanced for a 250 but it'd be tough to get a 600 low enough to fit her..........450 would be perfect.
Anybody got a blown up 250 that i can stuff a 450 mx engine in?
