Project 250 scores again. This time the nitrous record

This is an e-mail just received from Don Smith direct from Maxton;

We finished out first (and likely only day at Maxton/ECTA) today and I wanted to let you know that we have already exceeded our goals. As you recall we had already set the gasoline record(s) last year and at the end of the season we were within 1 mph of the nitrous class record. So with the help of Performance Psycle our engine builder, we added a wet nitrous kit to the bike and changed out the exhaust with a better flowing unit from Kyle Racing. On top of the APE Ti valves, head work, JE pistons, ceramic bearings and other modifications we performed last year we were set to go racing.

We knew weather would be an issue so I arrived early on Friday and got the bike inspected and when the racing started on Saturday morning we were the 5th bike off the line. With DJ Payton serving as our jockey the little Ninja blazed down the track at 119.64378mph. Besting the old record by 7mph. Which of course is a huge margin in a sport that is sometimes decided by tenths of a MPH.

The bike ran great and of course we think there was more in it but the day was cut short due to weather and we didn't get in another pass all day.

With the records secured in our name I think we are calling this project completed. Thanks again for your help and I will be in touch with you later to discuss the disposition of the bike once I return home.

Regards

E. Don Smith

Here is a photo of the bike going through the traps with DJ riding. It was his FIRST pass ever at Maxton. Imagine what we could do with a full season of seat time and tuning on the little Ninja. That APE head with the Ti valves and the JE pistons really made the difference.
