The bike really sounded good too!
Chad had been scheduled to ride the bike but had to cancel so his big brother Zack filled in.
Even though Zack has been over 200 on several bikes at Maxton he had a blast riding the two-fiddy and said it was alot harder trying to get one more mph out of the baby Ninja which made it fun.

Hey Dan! Please send my congrats to Zack.
Just wonder about a few things...
gearing?
main jet size?
pilot screw position?
needle clip position?
any airbox modifications?
stock air filter?
I wounder if a rear cowl would have helped or hurt? I put one on a friend's '08 and there was a substancial gap between the tail and the cowl. Plus, it does not seem to fit as snug when compaired to other Kawaski models.

Redelk,
It was 1 up in the front and 3 down in the rear. With that gearing it would only pull 12,000 in 6th gear. We went up one in the rear and it pulled 12,800 in 6th. It had some airbox modifications....it did not have an airbox or any pod filters.
I am unsure of ther jetting because Chris from Performance Psycycle did the jetting.
The thing was a blast to ride! I kept telling myself, TUCK, TUCK, TUCK !!!!

Thanks Zack! .
I've got a '09 250R (one of those "pre-release" models) that I'm using as my "commuter bike" so I can park the 12 MPG truck a few days each week.
So far I've done the following:
EXHAUST: Area P
GEARING: +1 (15T) front and am still waiting for my rear (-3/42T)
AIRBOX: Snorkel and metal screen removed (wasn't intentional)
AIR FILTER: Stock
MAIN JET: DJ100
PILOT SCREW: 3 turns
NEEDLE CLIP: 3rd for top
All the carb stuff are basically DJ's recommended settings.
Between swapping the exhaust and removing "unnecessary" items (rear footpeg bracket, "smog stuff", etc., I've taken about 13 lbs off the lil' two-fiddy. I also put my old 10R's OEM front brake MC on and Gafler lines f&b. Also still waiting on the rear cowl.
It's a fun lil' scoot, but unless I trim a lot more than 13 lbs off my waistline, I doubt if I'd ever seen anything over a buck. I do wish it had a temp gage and that there was some easy way to correct the 10% speedo error.
again... Congratulations!
Sherman

Hey Sherm,
I called Chris who did the tuning and left a message, I'll let you know on the carb specs when he calls back.
You'll love the bike, they're a blast.

Thanks Dan. I appreciate it.
Everytime I reach for my wallet, I do have to keep reminding myself it is just a "commuter bike". Yeah.... right.

Hey Sherm,
Like Zack said it had no air box or even pods, doubt it will be run that way on yours!
Chris said that he ended up with 102's and on the 4th clip from the top for the needles. He never even touched the pilots since it was a WFO event.
Take care old friend,

DOH! It helps when I actually READ the post, eh? No, I don't believe it would.

Thanks for the info. Odds are, I'm gonna leave things as they are since our objectives are "slightly different" (runnin' WFO vs. "commuting"). Even though it's getting cooler outside, I'm not really that interested in messin' with the jetting or needle clip unless there's a noticeable fuel delivery issue. At this time, it seems to rev fairly smooth from idle to the limiter.
Again... it is just a "commuter bike".

I would wish you the same, my friend, but seeing as how you've "retired from dam work" and run around with you family... "playing" with bikes... and actually getting an occasional "modest income" while at it... you've already been taking care.

WOW! Just another example of how much work goes into squeezing out those extra MPHs.
Motorcyclist magazine's comment about the 250R's capability of exceeding 100 MPH (indicated) is rather misleading due to it's 10% speedo error. I'd be surprised if the 250R could do any better then 95 MPH in stock trim and gearing. Even after regearing from 14/45 to 15/42, it might be able to break 100, but not much more.
That just makes breaking 111 MPH all the more impressive. Congratulations goes out to all involved.

I ride my girlfriend's '08 250 from time to time, it is bone stock and will not go over 92 mph indicated with my 200 pound ass on it. Part of that may be my (lack of) talent at tucking in and squeezing the most speed out of it. It does corner amazingly though. When i ride it i am never ever atl less than 100% throttle. Still a fun little bike, but with the 14 in the garage too i don't find too much reason to ever ride the 250.
