Yamaha in '09 --->R6 Track Weapon

2009 Graves Yamaha R6 Test

Almost Cheating?

The ultimate middleweight supersport Ben Bostrom's Graves Yamaha proved itself on the 2008 AMA Supersport series, delivering a number-1 plate

.

Ben Bostrom is undoubtedly an extremely gifted racer. If things are going his way, he is arguably one of the most talented all-around riders in the United States, maybe even the world (remember his one-off ride to win the inaugural AMA Supermoto Championship or those five-straight World Superbike wins?). His AMA Supersport Championship-dominating Graves Motorsports Yamaha YZF-R6, though, may be even more talented than Ben himself. Or at least equally so. That is, if ridden correctly.

Is there any segment of road racing Team Yamaha will not dominate this year?

Rumor has it Yamaha even hired Bubba for "dirt"

GP's - 125 and 250 - World Superbike, World Supersport, AMA Superbike, AMA Superstock

To classify "dirt" - In Dirt Track, they pretty much own the TT and Short Tracks. But they aren't competitive in Half Mile or Mile (GNC class).

In Moto - Yes, Bubba will dominate in SX. But since he won't run a full schedule in MX, Yamaha won't win. It will probably go to Villapoto (Kaw).

K Bryant, "GP's - 125 and 250 - World Superbike, World Supersport, AMA Superbike, AMA Superstock" is your list of suspected leagues that Yamaha won't dominate?

AMA Superbike- Since Yamaha is going in with newly hired Josh Hayes on the R1 for litre AMA and he joins 2008 winner Bostrom 600 AMA, Josh Herrin and Tommy Aquino maybe they will do good? Matter of fact all four are rumored to be racing the Daytona 200.

We know Spies joined Yamaha for World Superbike - enough said there if he'll perform as well as he has in the past.

I'm not an expert on racing like most of you are. And when it comes to dirt and I just don't get it at all

Yamaha has a huge racing budget for '09. As long as Rossi stays on top for '09 the rest is all just good advertisement anyway

I was still noting "this year" as the present, which of course has concluded. So.... '09

AMA - Too early (or actually too late.....) to tell. Yamaha may be racing by themselves. So in whatever the heck they are calling these so-called classes; they win.

GP - 125 & 250 - they essentially don't do. In MotoGP - Excellent question. Too many potential winners. Stoner, Pedrosa, Rossi, and ???? It's gonna be good.

World Superbike - Spies would be totally cool. But I don't see it happening. Not sure I would bet against the Ducs and/or Haga. But again, it's gonna be good.

So as far as dirt goes, you're one of those guys who thinks dirt is for planting potatoes, and asphalt is for racing..... I'm from a little bit earlier era of when you had to be reasonably decent at more than your chosen speciality (mine was roadracing). But I could fake it pretty good at MX & DT as well.
