Silver Hawks drive line clunk
I finally took it to the shop last week butt ass naked...no plastic on it what so ever.. I did that to save time and for right now it has an oil leak right after start up ( smokes like crazy then stops) and it turns out that it is a sensor right underneath the handle bars meet the frame..there is a sensor there that is causing the leak and the gasket will be changed also...they are also going to change the chain ten. because i said so..I was going to ride it down Sat. to the bike show but the parts did not show up so i went anyway..i will keep ya posted...questions comments or concerns just ask..

I wander what that sensor is, there really should be no oil going anywhere in the place you describe, except if it was on the engine.
As far as the tensioner is concerned, I am ears wide open as to if it cures the chain rattle, and IF id does, theres wear on it and nothing else, might just be a "wear" item....
Also, and since you have 20k on it, have them check the header nuts, my guess is they are loose with a few missing by now.

I went today to check on it and the part is not in yet..the sensor but it is right between were the pipes meet the engine right above the radiator..it is believe to be the reason why the oil pressure was low..or they giving me the run around..I will try to post a pick now..

I rode all day Sat. and sunday and got nothing..but i still have a vibrations or it just might be me and the biek having 20k miles on it ...since this is my first bike ever i would not know if that is normal or not..if i hear it in on start up when it get warmer i am going to change it..heck i might just change it anyway.

wow I may have deleted those mails can you lease end it one more time? I promise I'l post. And if its oil on te side of the engine, it may be a valve cover leak - kawi fixed that prob on my ZX14 like several times and never got it right and I dumped the bike

I thought the chain tensioner was replaced, I looked above and thought the fact is, it was. Was it?

SteveWFL I sent it again...and the leak would be right under the neck of the handle bars when it reaches the frame..it was the gasket and the there is a sensor in the same place also it had oil coming out of it as well..but they replaced it and the machanic said it the oil pressure was low this is why it might been messing up the tensioner so Oncourse it was not replaced as of yet because i am waiting till it warms up a bit then see if it starts to do it again...I am wondering how much i can get if i sell it since it has ABS on it..this has been on my mind when it is cold outside but i don't think about it at all when i am riding..lol

hahaha SteveWFL yeah that would suck..lol..I am thinking about the 09 R1 now...for a 1000 cc track and ride around town bike i decided to pass on the Honda with the oil burning issues and that one head light..

FYI ..the leak was fixed..I am just waiting for spring..guys up here i ride with talking about riding to Daytona but I am guessing they will whimp out..lol

I am glad my CBR is not one of the "burners", it's a great bike, best sportbike I ever rode.

I'm back! I worked for a bike shop for a few months, then the "change" came and you know the rest of the story. The shop is a Triumph and MV Agusta dealer, and traded used bikes as well. I had the privilege to ride MV F-4, a GSXR 1000 (trade in), an R-1 (another trade in), and the Daytona 675 (best 600cc engine I ever rode...mid range!!). Why do I like my CBR?...excellent handling, very composed, and a great mid range/torque engine. The bike is easy to ride fast, no surprises! Then again my C-14 is outstanding as well, as Ted told me "there's a sport bike under all this shit".
Truth is any Jap liter bike is more than we will ever use, and I am not talking about going straight, any idiot can do that!

The weather broke here and I was able to take a 400 mile loop yesterday. Mostly twisty roads and I had a ball. Stunning weather except it got a bit cool on Kit Carson pass and Donnor Pass. It was nice to be able to blast through a few corners. 49 from Jackson to Auburn was unbelievably nice.
