Try one and you'll see...both great bikes and I have owned both, but the Connie has more power when you pull the flies...substantially more. Handles better, brakes better, rides better -- but just suffers from serious heat issues and lot's of windshield buffeting.

I don't have any heat issues at all.
I would think the main differences between the FJR and the C14 are the C14 is smoother, 6th is a true overdrive, and the slipper clutch is a god send when tipping it into a hot corner.

next open house at a kawi dealer dont miss an opportunity to test ride one.
no matter hiow good the bike, it may not be for you. the FJ is a very good bike, &
from most owners ive heard little bad about them. ive been shopping the C-14 yet ive looked at everything in its class. save for digital cruise, id already have one !!

Connie has a slipper clutch? Doesn't feel like it to me.

Never rode the FJR but I love the Concourse. Still have my flies in and I really like the power. The flies aren't nearly as restrictive as they were in my ZX-14. I'm not sure I want to take them out. Also I have 5500 miles on it and heat issues are almost non-existant and I don't notice any real wind buffeting unless in a lot of traffic on the interstate and putting up the windscreen takes care of most of that. No buffeting in clean air.

Yes, it has a slipper clutch -- and remove those flies! Some have reported that you don't even need a PCIII. It's as dramatic as the difference on the ZX14...

I guess since the system is closed it will compensate? I heard the system overcompensates though so a PC3 should add some power and gas mileage I'd think. Well I think you've talked me into it but I just had to pull the thing apart for the headers so I'm not doing it again right now. Maybe in a couple weeks.

Performance is better on the Connie particularly if you replace the butt ugly stock muffler with a Area P and a power commander and remove the flys. Fit & finish in my opinion are slightly better on the FJ-1300 (I own a 08 FJR). The Connie motor is smoother than the FJR but for me this was not an issue with the FJR. Style is subjective and both bikes are stunning (In the case of the Connie if you replace that muffler). The FJR definately looks better without the bags. The FJR comes standard with ABS and you have a choice with the Connie which is nice to have. I have ridden both bikes and under very agressive riding conditions I will give the Connie the nod in handling and braking but for average to slightly above average riders it is a toss up since you will never use the additional capability. I have seen one friends Connie warp the front brake rotors with agressive use which I have never seen on a FJR. Same problem I had with my ZX-14 front rotors which I had to replace. Heat and lots of it was my reason for not going with the Connie. Yamaha had the same problem on the 05 and earlier FJR's and I didn't want to deal with that again. They are both great bikes but if performance is top of you're list go with the Connie.

One recall on my 05 FJR to replace the TP sensor and one saddlebag lock that popped out on my 08 FJR when the screws on the lock backed out. Only problem I have seen on a Connie was the front brake rotors warping on my friends bike (hard use).
