Area P muffler to Saddlebag Clearance?
Hey all you Area P guys. How much clearance do you have between your bags and the muffler?
I just put mine on this weekend and I'm less than 1/4". I put the heat tape on the bag that came with the pipe. The instructions recommended 1/2" minimum clearance. Is that possible? Do I just need to do some fine adjusting of the clamps and angles?
Other than that, I love the set up though. Got my flies out, PC3 and Area P installed and the bitch hauls ass!

They give you heat tape with the Area P now?
I managed to get close to ½” at first on mine, though I thought I never would. 17K miles later the clearance is about 3/8” and I’ve had no issues and no tape.

Mine is pretty tight. I'd say 1/4", haven't seen any heat issues. Might take a closer look when I get home.

Wish I could help, think my 2 bros oval has at least 1/2", guess you might need the tape?

Just put a set of Scorpion C/F Ovals on mine. they were a killer deal, less than 400 bux shipped. They were for the ZX14, but I had already put the ZX header on the Concours, and it was basically bolt up. Plenty of clearance and they match the bag angle exactly. They look factory and the C14 should have came like this. Sounds low and wicked, but not loud. Pics to follow in a couple.

Did you have to replace the center stand after putting on a the ZX 4-2 system? Looks like you do if you install the dual system for the C14 that Muzzys sells....

Yeah they supply two 2"x6" ish pieces of heat tape with the pipe. It's enough to run a strip the length of the bag.

With a little adjusting, I was able to get close to 3/8" and it should be fine now.

I have about half inch. Have not noticed excessive heat. According to areap the carbon runs much cooler and they are right because I can touch mine on a hot day after a long ride.

After extensive testing, we've updated our instructions to note "1/8" - 1/4" is fine for those installs that cannot obtain more clearance. We've continually tested on the dyno with mufflers actually touching the underside of the bag for a worst case scenerio with no issues, and minimal heat transfer. When there is a minimum gap of at least 1/8", it is a non-issue. As added precaution, we now include the adhesive backed heat tile in the hardware kits.
