Paint Job Done
Well here's the new paint job. I guess I should have gone with the cherry candy instead of apple since I was going for visibility, but I really like the look of it like this. I posted a close up to try to show the flake but the flake looks MUCH better in person. I could have used a little more flake in it also if I'd realized the apple would be so dark. The last pic is the photoshop job I did to see if I'd like it.

Wow. Great color choice for it. Personally, I would have done the tank and sides as well, but thats a matter of opinion. If you were in NC I'd pay you to do mine for me

I agree about the color choice. Very nice. The jury is out about leaving the tank and side covers. One thing about painting a tank is finding paint that will truly hold up to gasoline spills, especially while the paint is curing which can take a very long time. Many paints can be rubbed within hours, but they will not hold up to gas for sometimes months.

I personally think you should have done everything that was silver in that color, which looks nice..

I'm happy with the 2-tone look. Looking at the pics again I'd have to say that the overall look and the flake both look better in person. It's hard to get good pics of it really. The vents and Kawasaki logo are more visible in person and really make everything flow together better.
Gasoline shouldn't be a problem with any automotive grade urethane. After 24 hrs there should be enough resistance for normal use. If you're using spray cans or a similar type of cheap paint you will have problems. Professional clears use an activator and toughen up much more quickly.

Looks like a nice job! i have to agree on the 2-tone. NOT my thing, it chops the bike up to much. There is no flow. BUT, it is nice to see another color on one. Looks similar to my vintage red on '01 ZX11. Man I cant wait to get one and give it a going over.

Here's a wider angle view. I still say it looks better in person but everybody will have their own opinion. Just got my Corbin seat on it yesterday. I have to say it breathes a LOT better than the stock seat. No more diaper rash from sweating I hope.

Gorgeous, makes me want a c-14 even more. I'm waiting for Kawasaki to offer something besides that grey silver. How much did it cost to paint yours

Paint cost me around $300. I had problems getting it to spray myself, don't think i had the right equipment. So it cost me another $400 to get the local bodyshop to finish spraying it.

I'm not sure about the corbin seat. I put a comment in my order that i wanted it to sit higher if anything, i'm not sure if they listened.
I'll put some pics without the bags when I get home from offshore, maybe a week. I'm not expecting it to look so great without the bags, but i don't plan on riding it that way. I rode it without the bags for a top speed run one time and wasn't enough difference to worry about, so i'll keep my storage space handy from now on.
