Bike fell over, need scratch remover

Well, I got home from Laconia last night and parked my bike a little closer to the house than usual and put it up on the centerstand like I always do. I went out this morning to cover it and found it leaning against the house. I happened to put it on a soft spot in the tar and the right side of the centerstand punched through.

It could have been a lot worse I suppose, it was leaning against the right side mirror and saddlebag and they got scratched up pretty good. I know there is a polish out there that works well on the plastic parts to rub out the scratches, but I can't remember what it is...can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

Leif

can't help with the polish, but I carry a 4x3x 1/8" stainless plate with me to put under the kickstand as this bike puts a lot of pressure on the kickstand. Had it go 2" through my driveway, luckily I got it moved in time!

Here is what you do for the polish. Go to any of the auto parts houses and get some Polishing compound. If you can't find that get some Maguire's Scratch X. A bit of elbow grease and if it has only scratched the clear coat it will all be back to normal. Polishing compound is finer than rubbing compound, but it wouldn't hurt to get both and use the rubbing compound to do the initial and polishing to finish then wax.

Any of you have touch up paint? Dealership probably. I have a little scratch in my right side mirror and what put back to normal. Sounds like leif may need too. Sorry about your bike, I'd freak out!

Thanks for the advice! What I'm looking for is a type of plastic/acrylic polish that the dealer used to to buff out some scratches on the saddlebags before I bought the bike.....but I can't remember the name. I guess I'll have to call the dealer.

Oncourse, you put the steel plate under your centerstand? I have been thinking about that, my driveway seems pretty soft. I have a puck for my sidestand that I use.

When I was finally cooled off enough to go out and take another look at the bike I found a nickle size hole punched out of the right fairing where the mirror folded over and contacted it. It just keeps getting better and better.

Novus 1,2 +3.

I can't say it enough - Novus, Novus, Novus - if you see them at a Motorcycle trade show - hit them up for some samples, you won't ever try anything else once you have tried Novus.

It won't bring your paint back - but it will take the sting off any scratches in your clear coat and it works on cars too.

I have some fairly good scratches in my left bag where I rubbed up against the wheelbarrow in my garage. I think I just want to replace the painted part and the microfiche is a bit confusing on the part #. Has anybody done this yet? Is it possible to just replace the part that folds open and not the whole bag? Thanks, Scott

if you contact Crashtech he may be able to spot paint the piece for less money than it would be to replace it....but you would have to to him, he is a PPG Master painter, the guys knows paint and painting.....Nobody else paints anything of mine, I got burned on a couple of bikes a few years back when haveing them painted....He is the only one from now on. I send body work from Texas to him in TN, and pay the shipping before anyone else touches anything of mine.

Thanks, I'm actually riding the bike to a town about an hour outside of Nashville next week. I'll try looking him up and see if maybe I can work something out. It made me sick when I scratched it three days after I got it.
