Has anyone removed the cat's?
I am just curious to see if anyone had tried removing the catalytic converters, and if so was there any power gain? I could see where the exhaust would be louder with those 2 corks removed and gutted..

I just want to add this, there may be no gain or almost no gain in removing the cat's, then again I could be wrong. When I got my 01 ram 2500hd, I tried in all my might to increase mpg. I removed the cat and replaced it with a universal one from e bay Gutted, k&n, Iridium plugs, Stainless ex. with flowmaster muffler, the only thing that gave me 1 mpg more were the plugs. Heck, I thought I could get 20 mpg, wrong!
If anyone has removed them let me know what your results were....

I've thought of this too, more for heat reduction than anything else.
Removing the cat made a HUGE difference on the ZX12 in how much heat was coming off the pipe.
The little woman is starting to get edgy about all the money I've spent lately. I think another $1200 for a pipe and a power commander is gonna have to wait a while.
So has anyone taken out the cat(s) in the Concours? Where are they anyway? In the pipe, in the can, or both?

They are in the collectors, where the 2 sets of 2 pipes become one, look like cylinders from the outside. Take off the exhaust (easy) get a flashlight and they are right in the header, 2 of them maybe 2" in diameter. 2 ways to remove them, hammer and a long rod, or hammer drill, they are just ceramic and probably have a metal mesh around them. Bust 'em up and shop vac them out. I would then take it outside and put a metal deflector over the outlet and start her up, maybe let her warm up a little and hit the gas a few times. Yes it will be wayyy louder but cooler as well...
I don't need it yet, still at around 200 miles, but was very tempted to beat the crap out of them when installing my pipe.. They are on my most wanted list..

You'd probably lose backpressure, so your low range would suffer...happened on both my ZX's with the full system, so I changed the sprockets to fix that problem 
One thing I noticed about the Connie, is that there was no low range loss at all with the slip on's.

It's probably the cat's keeping the pressure up, I bet it is pretty quiet without the muffler on, you could probably run a stright pipe and it would be quieter than some sport bikes :-)

I'm installing a ZX14 exhaust in the next couple weeks.
I've actually got an extra zx14 header (no cats) for someone who want's dual exhaust
(somehow I ended up with 2)

Just did it, and am very pleased with the transformation. C/F Scorpion Ovals, sound is fantastic, very deep at idle, and muted rumble when in flight, not loud at all.
