Off Topic Question About Other Bike SV1000
Thinking of getting a spare bike. Anyone here ever ridden or know anything about a SV1000?
I have a chance to pick one up cheap and thought it might be an interesting contrast to the C-14, fun at the track and it won't ruin my finances if I wreck it.
Thoughts?

Don't know anything about the SV but I do know this, even the best bike will make you appreciate the C14 even more. I rode the 10 last week and it is an absolutely brilliant bike. The way it musters speed, lofts the front wheel, handles effortlessly, and shakes its head at 100+ under hard acceleration. Makes it one of the most fun bikes I have ever ridden. But after 250 miles it beats the crap out of you, not because of the brutal acceleration, or wind hitting you, or shifting your weight from side to side, but droning down the highway at legal speeds just kills you. And the C14 can still tear up a road and let you enjoy the scenery in comfort. But I will say I like having the second bike to really tear it up.

the SV1000 is supersweet. A guy I did a twisty run with this morning tapes his up and uses it on track days and does well. And the low end torque.... well remember the RC51's/TL1000's :P

Well I brought her home with me.
2003 SV1000.
- Sharkskinz race fiberglass (with solo tail)
- Penski triple-clicker rear shock
- fully reworked forks (by Traxxion dynamics)
- Michelin Pilot Race
- Yoshimura 2-into-1 header with custom flange, to accept any stock slip-on
- Teka'ed ECU
- Black powerdercoated frame and swingarm
- Goodrich kevlar brake lines
- Vortec rearsets
- Zero gravity wind shield
- TRE
- Pair removed
- cable clutch conversion,
- Recently replaced chain
- Race spec safety wiring
- Custom green LEDs in gages (replaced stock orange ones)
- Handles great, runs perfect, placed 3rd overall in AFM Open Twins.
And it does feel like a whole other animal. It looks like a tough old track bike and needs a little work to make it fully street legal (well pass inspection anyway) and I have to add two or three brackets to secure the fairings. Otherwise it's quite a little torque monster thumper. I haven't tried it on any good turns yet but can tell it's going to rip'em up, Jeez it steers quick. Can't wait to get it on a track.
OK enough of this here, now back to the C-14 (My REAL bike)
