Dishonest Cops

Yesterday I took a ride down 88 toward Jackson Calif, I got behind a slow pickup and SUV. 88 is a windy road but has plenty of passing zones and passing lanes, so I waited until one came up and after a few corners it went from double yellow to single yellow just as a blind corner ended, as I came out of the corner I saw a Sheriff sitting about midway down a straight. I pulled across the single yellow and passed the two slow cars and pulled back in, never went over the speed limit. Then the Sheriff pulls out as I go by and flips on his lights. I thought he was going somewhere else because I hadn't done anything wrong. He pulled me over and as I got off my bike he used the speaker to tell me to stay on the bike. Fine, he stood about 10 feet behind me and said that he pulled me over because I crossed the double yellow I told him I waited until it turned single yellow before I pulled out, and told him that I saw him before I pulled out. A US Forest service also was there and he came over and talked about the riding jeans I was wearing. I tried again to talk to the Sheriff and it was hard sitting on the bike with him behind me to go look at the stripes and he would see that I didn't cross the double yellow. He wasn't listening, Then he asked for my license, registration, and insurance. I told him they were in the saddle bag and he begrudgingly let me get off the bike and get them. I again told him I waited and didn't cross the double yellow, I even asked the Forest Ranger to go look and he would see. He said he was just there for backup and couldn't do anything. So the fat fuck writes me a ticket and again I politely asked him to go look and see where the single yellow started, and then he said he didn't see where I crossed the double yellow, and said I across it when he first saw me. That was a flat out lie. Second from his vantage point about 1/5 of a mile away from the corner the double yellow is only visible for about 12 feet and if I was outside the line passing cars he couldn't have seen me, especially from his mirror. No he was determined to write a ticket and that was that. It is bad enough that they pick on motorcycles but to out and out lie is another thing. Now I have to take a day off work, drive 100 miles to fight a dishonest Alpine county sheriff in a tiny town. This stinks to high heaven.

Lawyer representation Ted, 3 words, Get a Lawyer. As a former small town cop I can tell you legal representation is critical in these situations. Your ticket is a source of revenue for that small shit hole of a jurisdiction and without help you stand a good chance of filling their coffers for them. I just had a small town FUCK HOLE COP write me for 50 in a 35 because I twisted the throttle right as I got to the 50 MPH sign and from his 200 yard away vantage he could tell I hadn't passed the sign, would not talk about it and wrote me a revenue ticket. Fuck Head, ticky tack, little prick swinging, out of control ego, inbred butt FUCK. Okay...... I'm better, Thanks

Fight it.
When u win request from the judge a formal apology from the prick and compensation for your lost day at work, and request that your representation pe paid by the officer.
No attitude. You must communicate this politely.

The judge may do nothing but he may also do something.
Only if the Judge found you not gilty.
Do not question his judgement. Wear a suit. Be respectful.
I would love to hear the outcome.

Make sure you have representation. Do not go your self. THe judge will look right thru u.

I plan on fighting it. I have fought and won before. Your honor, yes officer, I believe the deputy was mistaken, yada yada yada. I have got great pictures from his vantage point and from the point where I crossed the single yellow. This is a tiny town, I will dress nicely but not over do it. But after I win, then it is apology time, and just wait till he finds out how much a lost day at work is worth.

keep your cool.

Let the Judge bend this twinkie over.

Dont even look at the officer. Unless he has been instructed to apologise. Thank him afterwards.

That sucks man. Yeah, it rarely helps to disagree with a cop. They aren't known for saying things like, "Gee sir, I guess you're right. Sorry to bother you today, have a nice day." Not in this universe at least.

When is your court date? Let us know how it goes.
