Track Day on the C14
Today I took my bike to the Infineon Raceway. I really had a good time and impressed a lot of people with the C14 track performance. I started in the C group (intermediate) but then switched to B (advanced) after lunch. I was a little nervous to try the B group as everyone was on race bikes and I looked a bit out of place showing up on the Connie. The bike hung in there well. I passed many people and stuck with some fast guys. I have some photos, but unfortunately they only took shots earlier in the day when I was riding slower. I was really hoping they caught my runs with the B group where I actually scraped both fairings and ground the peg feelers completely off to where I cannot remove my left side one. I also ruined my brand new racing boots. For some reason I cannot keep the boot toes off the ground no matter how I position them on the pegs. Lastly, the Michelin tires continue to impress me. I beat the hell out of them today and they still look and handle perfectly. Some of the racers told me I was at a major disadvantage with street tires, but they had excellent grip. Any drift that I had was very controllable except for one bad downshift where my rear end swung WAY out in the chicane. All in all it was an excellent day. I only need to find a solution to the boot wear, as I cannot afford to buy $280 boots for each track day.

You da man Nathan. Though I know some of the anal retentive guys on the "other site" would blast you from to kingdom come and jabber about this being a ST bike and not supersport, you've earned this rider's respect, but I think you're being modest when you complain about wearing out your boots each track day...LOL
I guess you've finally finished off both fairings and pegs now... 
Judging by your comment about the rear end swinging out, I guess the slipper clutch on this bike wasn't really designed for track days...:P

Well, I feel a little stupid about tearing up my new boots, but otherwise it was a lot of fun. I'd love to have a dedicated track bike, but there is no way that'll fly with the wife. Next time I'll work on hanging off the bike and maybe raise the pegs a little to keep my boots off the ground. Otherwise the bike was fine. I had no problem keeping up with the pack.

I like that slot car setup. That looks like fun!!! There are days when the real track is right and others where the indoor track is the right choice.

What is your problem? You do realize that the C14 handles as well if not better than the 12? Be careful you just may be watching one get away from you on a twisty road.
And why would you want to rain on his parade? And what is wrong with taking a fast good handling bike on the track? Is it just reserved for Sport bikes?

Way to go Nathan.... You could prolly beat 12mark with a ninja 250. Track days are made EXACTLY for what you did...find the limits of your machine...It's not a race..Mark....Besides WTF do you care, keep your negitive "fucking stupid" remarks to yourself and you won't get beat up for them...
