Utah to Florida trip report
Guys I just spent the last week and half on a road trip to Ft Lauderdale Florida and I had a ball. This bike is truly a Transcontinental Super Sport. So stable on the highway its sickening, except for the trip across New Mexico hitting 40 MPH cross winds. I swear some were alot stronger than that as they had me diagonal for a good amount of time. The trip down was pretty much uneventful and quick as I left Lehi Utah on a Sunday morning at 6 AM. The ride over the mountains was very cold but once I got over them I warmed up in a hurry. Broke th trip down in 3 segments, all day time riding and night time sleeping. First leg was Lehi to Adrian NM in about 12 hours then Adrian to Alexandria LA in about 14 as the drive through Dallas sucked and my key FOB failed at the first morning fillup in Adrian. I posted that earlier this week. Then Alexandria to Tampa Florida, key FOB problems seemed to have disappeared then the last day was Tampa to Ft Lauderdale. Arrived on Wednesday morning at my Dads place at noon. The only worry all the way down was the police as they were every where for Thanksgiving travelers. The drive was awesome especially traveling the Florida pan handle riding the Gulf Coast, absolutley perfect weather all the way down with exception to the start.
Had to get new tires while I was down there, ended up getting the Pirelli Corsa 3's. Immediatley noticed a difference and as I will tell you now they wore nicely on the trip back.
The trip back was a bit different. Very very fast up until the 3rd day. I covered 1078 miles the first day as the traffic was flying even by the police. The second day I covered 888 miles and the last day was a bit dissapointing as i was heading into a huge storm in the west that was covering New Mexico, Utah and Arizona. I ended up having to stop in Albuquerque and renting a UHaul to cover the last 500 miles as driving in the snow and rain was not appealing to me. It turned out to be isolated in NM as I was out of it in about 150 miles... still wouldn't want to drive through it though. I never had to drive in snow and i don't want to. The truck allowed me to drive all night to get home for other obligations.
All in all it was a safe trip and the bike proved its worth. Not once did I ever have issues with comfort other than my ass got a little touchy for abit, mostly due to not having driven that long. On the trip back that problem dissappeared. Driving in the cold was not a problem either even in 25 degree weather as i prepared for it.... layers and good gloves and boots. The hardest part of the trip was keeping the speed down.
Total trip bike miles = 5,112
Looking forward to the next trip. I think it will be Boston in Spring.

Two of my friends and myself took a trip back in July up to Virginia and back down via Skyline Dr & The Dragon area.
We had a great time. Looking forward to our next summer trip.
We live in the Boynton Beach area and are active riders.

Thanks Rich,
I will keep it in mind. I plan on another trip back down south after the winter weather passes. Maybe we can get together for a road trip. I'll tell you something though, going through Durango Colorado on the way back look like an awesome ride. I hear going up route 550 north through Durango is a great run.

Tampa has the biggest bike night in the state usually with thousands of bikes (about half sportbikes) showing on any Wednesday night with good weather. Next time you're coming through FL look us up.

Looks like fun... I can't wait. I have been quite a few times to the bike weekend in Laconia New Hampshire, Fathers day weekend plus others out in upstate New York but never Daytona. I am looking forward to it. I rounding up bunch of guys to ride out with now.
