No...that's really more about low end, really low, like idle. Doesn't do much above that. IMO, the vibes you get are more from the driveline than the engine, My ZX14 doesn't have any of that shit, but the last shafter I had (04 FJR) has the exact same vibe issue...seems like they all do that...

I have to disagree FBA, It is definitely the motor producing the vibes. If it was the drive line it would be speed dependent. It vibrates at the same frequency between 5-7k in any gear, with only different intensities. And I would also beg to differ on the sync not helping. It may not remove it but it could help if far enough out.

I agree with Ted. The whole purpose of syncing is so that the plates open at the time same, permitting equal amounts of air in. If one differs, lets say letting in more or less air, then there will be an imbalance in that cylinder in comparison to the other 3. IE vibration, which may be more noticeable at certain rpms than others.
Speaking of syncing, how exactly is the fuel hooked up to this bike with the carb sync meter attached. How accessible are the syncing screws?

Well I was going to do a sync a few weeks ago and pulled off the middle faring and the left hand bracket to gain access, Those brackets have so much shit attached to them. Anyway I started looking for the one and only syncing screw ( it seems that you can only adjust the 1/2 pair against the 3/4 pair you adjust the pairs with an air screw... no shit) I could not see it or touch it, it is buried so deep. I have a genuine Kawasaki angle driver for syncing carbs but I couldn't find the screw even though there was a picture in the manual and wasn't sure it would reach. So I put the thing back together until I get another angle driver that has a longer shank.
Oh joy this is going to be fun.

If you have sucess with this, let us know...I'd love to get rid of the vibes...but somehow I doubt that a TBS will do it...I hope I'm wrong though!
Why would that motor produce more vibes than the ZX14? I just find it weird that C14 has the same vibe issues as the FJR at about the same RPM's and both of them are shaftee's. Here's another thought though -- might be something in the frame buzzing as a result of motor RPM and being amplified . (Sympathetic vibration)...

Food for thought, could that 5-7k vibe be the the cam transitioning from retarded to advanced? I am not saying that it will cure it but it could help. What gives me hope it that some people don't seen to have it. And the vibes do seem to come and go depending on conditions. The night before last, driving home from work at 8:30ish, about 58f and the thing was glass smooth, it was uncanny. And the 5-7 k vibe was almost non existent.

I am curious if everyone is having this vibe problem. My ZX 14 is smooth as glass and my C-14 is even smoother if that is possible. I have 3500 miles on it, 3rd oil change and 2nd set of tires. No vibes.

Now that's curious indeed; I can't believe that there are bikes that have ZERO vibes, especially when every single member on the boards complains about it. My ZX14 is also smooth, incredibly, but even it has some vibration, a minimal amount, but still something. I've never seen a bike that had nothing at all. I wish I lived near you so I could try yours out...
By the way, it's more of a buzz than a vibe...at least on the few that I've tried.

I am sure that with only 3 posts on "THIS" site that you would assume that I am a tard that doesn't know what a vibe or buzz is. I actually was one of the very first C14 owners the day they were released to the public. Obviously there is some type of something that lets you know the bike is running but the word (vibration) indicates something that is undesireable. Mine simply doesn't have that. Since you pointed out that "every single member on the boards complains about it), I have to assume that you don't believe me. Maybe when I have 4766 posts like you on "THIS" site........I will earn some street cred.

Not the way I had intended you to read my post at all -- sorry if you were under the wrong assumption. I really was being polite, which is very unusual for me on these sites. I just can't accept that after having ridden and owned so many rides in the past 35 years, that there was any bike on the market with zero vibration or buzz associated with it. I'd love to try another C14 like your's with no vibes; at least I could go back to the dealer and make them fix it. I just find that very curious; so I wonder if what I feel on the bike is me, or is there really a difference from one bike to the other -- and if so, whats the cause of that?? No offense intended -- If or when I want to offend, you'll know and you won't be guessing.  :P

It's not exhaust rubber; I changed out the exhaust and inspected the mounts. Engine mounts on these bikes are solid mounts from what I remember and unless they're loose, it wouldn't be there, but I didn't check that yet.

Regarding the actual sync, in the service manual they make no mention of removing the tank.
Am I to assume access to the vacuum ports and adjusting screws is possible with the tank on??? how?
FBA, have you done this yourself on a zx14 yet?

Sorry GP, haven't done that on the C14; I usually bring that kind of stuff to the dealer to do, like most other routine maintenance...I just hate doing that kind of shit

To access the the ports, you have to remove the top brackets and they are a pain. Lotsa junk attached to them. then you can get in there. Then there is only the adjuster for the 12 against the 34 pairs. To adjust the 1 and 2 TBs. against each other there are air screws Same for the 34 pair..Getting at the center screw is also a huge pain, you can't see it.
The tank doesn't need to come off. I started that operation and decided to wait, although I have a Kawasaki angle driver I couldn't see how to make it engage the screw. I am going to buy another angle driver with replaceable longer tips to make sure I can finish what I start.
