Let the games begin.
Picked up the Connie two days ago, Just did about 30 miles first day, and due to Anniversary taking presidence, havent had a chance to do anything untill today. That anniversary was number 48, so was important to the wife mate. Today I started by making a 1/4 in aluminum plate to replace the plastic luggage rack so I could mount the 47 buck JCW top box. Came out great and looks good, I painted the funky orange front ribs with Krylon Fusion black satin. Then I turned my attention to the exhaust. I also have an 06 ZX14 that I had modded the pipes before anything was available for it. I band sawed off the stock cans, and used the stock mids to mount a set of used D&Ds I had laying around the shop. They looked and sounded great, but then I went with Brocks Street Meg setup. Thet left the D&Ds and the ZX14 mids laying around gathering dust. I had planned on the same thing for the Connie, bandsaw off the can and use the mid pipe, but once I removed it I found the Zx14 mid would fit and work perfect, even the centerstand bumper is correct. Well I put on one of the D&Ds, and it is a big improvement on the stock can. Havent ridden it yet, but it sure does sound good, and my original exhaust is not modded so I can switch back if the need arises. Some time down the road I plan on checking to see if the ZX14 header will fit and if so may go to duals. Guess it pays to be a junk collector, I never throw anything away. Will get some pics in a few days, next up is the secondary butterflies, and filter mod, not looking to make another ZX14 out of it, but do want to make it better for me.....TB

Was that $47 on the trunk a limited time offer?? Another poster cited a similar price but the link shows almost $100.00 ??

Yup dont know how long though. Had free mounting kit and also free shipping for 75+. I bought 2 just for the shipping and the price was so good. Its a sturdy well made box esp for the price.

I just can't bring myself to bolt on a $75 POS box to a $14,000 motorcycle. If you read the reviews of the JCW box, every single one of them said the hinges were flimsy, the lock was inferior, the mounting lugs were sticky and most of them had to paint the cheap orange side bars. Sure, the plastic box itself may be okay, but what's that get ya? Granted, the GIVI price tag of almost $500 is a bit steep even with all the bells and whistles, but my bike's worth it. Besides, it will feel right at home next to the $655 (each) saddlebags.

Sure I can see where you are comming from, you fall into the catagory of you get what you pay for. Sort of like the millions that buy Harleys. Only the real thing will do it for me, and anyone that dont do it my way is somewhat lesser. Just a tad elitest, but thats ok too. Me I am a cheap sort that uses automotive oil and Wally World filters, and actually make stuff for my bikes. Gasp I really do run a car tire on my customized supercharged Valkyrie. Just think of it, if it wasnt for guys like me, guys like you would just be another guy, so you are actually indebited to us cheapskates. Grin, grin, I especally like te POS refrence. I dont usually do this but will compare my list with the one you posted.

If it wasn't raining and cold, I'd ride out to JCW and look at it in person. The pics I've seen so far don't look all that bad for a sub $100 box. Add a $10 can of spray paint and you're golden.
