I have done it and it looks great and it was easy to do. Just remove all the crap (3 bolts), use an "L" bracket to re-attach the existing license bracket to the center hole that was holding on the fender and you are done. GIves the bike a much cleaner/sportier look, epecially if you ever go without the bags. Another guy posted picks on one of the other forums.

After reading this I just ran out and did it on mine. You're right, it's E-Z and looks great.
I must have forgotten something between the computer and the garage cause I used 2 L brackets, the two holes fwd of the one mentioned and the plate lined right up to the brackets. Used the bolts from the original license plate bracket to hang my 2 L brackets.

Ok, here are some pics but don't nobody give me no shit about my South Park seat cover or the big dent in the tank. It all started with a tragic cigar mishap and replacement parts / repairs are forthcoming.

Without the bags the exhaust even looks bigger. And by the way a birdie told us that your wife made you put that seat cover on (lol)

so you lost the license light?
Its state law here. You have to have the light at night to shine on the plate.
But I admit it does make it look so much nicer.

All right confessions of a dumb ass. Really it was two separate instances. The seat cover got burned when I was smoking while riding. It started out as two tiny little pinhole sized burn holes. I got an upholstery repair kit and the fix only made them more noticeable. Each time I tried to make them look better they only looked worse until I eventually made the front seat cover look like it was boiled in oil. I decided the south park temporary fabric would make people I think I was crazy rather than stupid. With tax, almost $150 for the seat cover alone, on order and expected by the middle of next week. Going to have an upholstery shop install it.
The tank.... Well I stopped on a horizontal incline, the ground on the right was further away than that on the left and I let the bike settle to the right. By time my right foot landed it was too late to stop and I dropped it. I tried till the last second to stop her and when I gave up and ejected I rammed my left knee into the tank hard enough to dent it. That and a few scratches on the right side came to a $3000+ claim to the insurance co.
Replacement price for the tank, $674 muffler (get this) $817.

Haha - what a great story. Thanks for sharing the pics and the story. By the way, the seat probably looks great parked in that garage. Is it pink too?

muffler is one of the ugliest ever put on a motorcycle, even worse without some distracting other pieces imho.

Qzzy, no shit about that muff. Getting a new one soon. Ya think my seat cover is distracting enough?
R6Richard, Don't know yet but I do get caught in the rain on occasion and if it's a problem the fender goes back on easy, I'll let you know.

I am in the minority here I know, but I don't mind the fender extension or the cannon pipe... Without the dumb fender extension the bike reminds me of one of those 600cc bikes the teenagers run around on... Hey, it makes ya look younger.... thats not bad...

I just did mine today. As wormgear said, I just used 2 L brackets from ace hardware. 1-1/2" brackets I think was the size. Had to remove the tool kit housing and the electric box to access the bolts. No big deal and it turned out nice. I'll try to post pics. No guarantees..
