Just Got Back From 2000 Mile Ride on New Connie 14 I am a 2004 Yamaha FJR owner living in So. Cal. Kawasaki provided me with a new Concours 14 for the past two weeks. It pays to know somebody....sometimes! WHAT A BIKE!!! I'm 6'1" 235 lbs. The seat was perfect, the windshield was perfect, handlebars perfect too! Those were all modified on my FJR. I've riden them all and Kawasaki designed the best SPORTtouring bike available today, by a landslide! This is going to put alot of pressure on Yamaha, Honda, BMW, Moto Guzzi, and others. Rode it in the desert, Coastal mountains, High Sierra, over 10,000 feet, way over 100mph for over 20 minutes. Still after all that I averaged 42 mpg! Got to go more later. Snakebite

There is one sitting all alone at the local Kawasaki shop (saw it as I drove by) and it want's to go home with me, I can feel it. With the wife in the UK I could but . . . I might get killed when she returns with the kids in 3.5 weeks.

Been there, done that. My wife has been in Japan with my kid for the last 2 months and the moment she left I put deposits down at half the dealers in Bay Area. I've had my C14 ABS since late June. My wife is NOT happy, but she's learning to deal with it . Unfortunately she's forcing me to sell the BMW. Oh well! I really love the bike. Already have over 3000 miles on it. It seems to run stronger everyday. Yesterday I rolled on the throttle and did an unexpected power wheelie through an intersection. Man is it fast. I can't imagine what the ZX-14 is like, having even more power.

Yes 42 mpg. I keep all my gas receipts and did the math. It was right on with the Average MPG on the screen. I was shocked. Lowest I got was 34 and highest was 45. if my memory serves me right. Adios

On my last 1000 mile trip I averaged about 42.5 mpg, but commuting in the San Francisco Bay area I'm lucky to get 38 or 39. I think it's the heavy coastal air and cross wind along I280 that reduces the mileage.

I talked to her about it and she wants me to wait to see if she likes the positioning of the passenger pegs, she's not too fond of the ZX14 in that respect. At least it wasn't a " . . . .hell no you can't have one." The ZX14 with a few mods is quite the rocket, it makes my 500 hp Boss Hoss seem tame.
