Reason why the C14 is gutless in 6th

"55mph in OD had my tach at only 2300rpm"

6th is overdrive, explains the downshift to pass issue.

I like it!

No I havent bought one,, I stole the post from Daniels site.

38MM throttle body intake helps that, taller gearing, secondary flies etc...I say "remove the damn flies" man. Be over and done with that -- you know, there are a number of topics on this very site that you own, that show you how to do that -- step by step.:P

152 at the crank and 200lbs more... removing flies wont help! Try a blowtorch!

No? Adding like 20LBS RWTQ at the low end won't help? Dude, my FJR was faster than my 14 at 2-3K...easily, even after all my mods. That thing was faster than my Busa from 0-60...I can't believe that with the power the C14 puts out, it can't benefit with the secondaries removed -- I just don't accept that. I could wheelie my FJ at 2500 RPM from power only. That power has got to be there on the C14, seriously. 152 HP and 102.5 LBS TQ is nothing to shit on, on a 615 LB Jap bike. FJ was 145/99 at the crank but weighed 521 without bags, so add another 15-20 LBS. She was a rocket...

I saw a dyno sheet posted on one of the "other sites" The connie only puts 130bhp to the pavement.

If you want a barn burner buy a zx-14, the connie is designed for a different purpose.

Also another solution to lack of low end power in low rpms, twist the throttle harder.

The Yamaha R6 sucks in the low end too, the solution take off with more rpms showing on the tack..........problem solved.

Then again maybe my riding style is just different than anyone elses. I owned a VFR (04 model) . People on forums said it too lacked power under the 7 grand mark where the v-tech kicks in. I always just rode it above that to stay in the top of the power band, Why would anyone want to ride around at 2500 rpm on an inline 4? Inline fours are top end type motors. Quit shifting the thing, I don't see myself shifting out of third if I am only doing 60mph since I never shifted out of fourth doing 60 on my v-4 VFR.

I will know more tommorrow I guess.

Also that whole brake in manufacturer recommended rpms thing is a joke,, you can believe your connie was flogged on the dyno long before it got to your showroom, they all are. Ever taken a factory tour of any bike builder?

I got the joy of visiting the PA factory for Harley when I baught my CVO fatboy. I had the same concerns until I watched every bike come off the assmbly line get rolled to the dyno where they whipped the crap out of it on the dyno, if they do it off the assenly line how can I hurt it later?

Doing a quick calc 6th is geared to do an indicated 230mph at redline, and 5th is 186. Those are some tall gears.
