Could it posssibly be the 2007 FJR1300 is raised the bar a notch more and Kawi is scrambling to at least match it if not better it?

....like redesign the fucked-up tail-light/turn-signal design, make it smoother and more asthetically pleasing...redesign a twin exhaust system with lowered cans...which will allow larger capacity saddle bags...heated seats/handgrips...more forward lights (ie.fog-light option)...design heating registers on the side mid fairing panels that can be electronically and variably opened or closed by the rider to re-direct the engine's hot air towards or away from the rider as hotter/cooler weather dictates... built-in GPS-XM-radio-MP3... PTT on handlebar for wireless comm-system...cruise control...ergonomically-adjustable footpegs/brake/shift levers and handlebars...replacable body-colored' fairing/saddle "skid bumpers" on vunerable areas, cheap and asthetically pleasing, of course...
...it's a hyper--"transcontinental" touring bike and only a relative few will ride it like a pure sportbike in the twisties and then complain about it being too heavy and cumbersome and about the exhaust cans touching the road when banked over as they try to drag their kneepucks fish-style ...I'll ride a Concours14 like a touring bike and ride a sportbike like a sportbike...which are ridden the same way for me and not for others.....scared like newbie with a death-grip on a FatBoy ... ____________ “We sleep safe in our beds because rough men

how 'bout we start a new thread that has a reasonable list of modifications that an OEM could make to a mass production bike about to go into mass production?
(ie: see the "unreasonable" requests above.... such as change the gas tank... redesign the exhaust etc etc... think about it guys... mass production... about to go into mass production....)
I'm sure that if there were reasonable simple requests they'd be considered!

...if they got it "right" in the first place by getting "input" from the likes of us, we wouldn't even be having this "conversation"...if they are going to "build" and "design" something, why not do it "right" right from the begining?....its not like its a "new" concept in sport-touring motorcycles ...there are LOTS of high-mileage sport-touring riders out there whose "input" would serve the manufacturers very well IF THEY (the manufacturers) CARED TO ASK AND IMPLEMENT THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS....and not soley rely so much on an employee's idea and who probably doesn't ride as much as the ultimate consumer cuz' the employee is too busy slaving for the company to really ride it and use it day in day out like the consumer....

...yeah, you're right swft....I don't have the things I want...there are external influences that preclude me from selfish acquisitions.....but I'd like to....but it doesn't stop my enthusiasm...dreamin' keeps me alive, keeps me interested in things that are important to me......
...so lets just say that my 'ideas" are for those (certainly not you, you have almost everything some gearheads want) who'd appreciate it NOW just the same, and not necessarily for me right now because of said preclusions...hell, the ZG1000 was basically in production unchanged for what... forever!....and I'm guessing/hoping that in forever and a day I should/will be able to finally get one....but I hope it will have all of the "reasonable ideas" that I suggested eons ago when I was younger and more enthusiastic about it....
....alas....I'm just a civil servant with a measely income, not Jay Leno with the connections and mooola... I guess I should stop having ideas and being enthusiastic since I have no money to buy the things I really, really want?
...hey dreaming is free...I guess by the tone of your post I should dream in private?....sure, pal, easier done than said....better yet, hit ignore .

Maybe you're close friends? Naw. Still not funny.
My first post. Been lurking for quite awhile. Maybe the postponements don't do much for a positive exchange of info. Hopefully, when this thing is finally released, we''ll all have constructive comments to make.
Until then,
